#45 Anthony “Munny” Munkara

Hope its not another mozzie siutation

Playing in our VFL team looks like so much fun, I’d be shocked.

Cal on gettable said he doesn’t expect Munkara to be at Essendon next year, wtf?
Just after the 5 minute mark

Living a long way from home.
Not yet reached VFL level.
Understands the effort required just to give himself a chance to play AFL.

Wouldn’t surprise at all if he decided to go back home.
It’s a shame for us if he does as his cameos were a delight to see.
AFL is not for normal people.

@Finding_Nino just checking if you’re at peace yet with us not jumping in and taking him with our second rounder in the National Draft?

That’s a shame if he has pulled the pin

Even with Walla there and a heap of other indigenous young players around him.

Looked to be improving as season went on also

That’s a shame, thought he might blossom under Walla/Rioli & with the Davey boys

link?

Good on him for having a crack. These young indigenous kids who dont grow up just struggle to adapt to the life of a AFL footballer and struggle with the transition moving to melbourne. Im sure he’ll be more at peace if he just plays a local league and sees his family and freinds on the regular. And thats ok. All the best to him

Very disappointing if true. I was really hoping he would develop into that special player every other team wished they had.

so paddy ryder coming back as our indigenous player development manager hasn’t yielded the desired results?

I’m shocked…

He says “don’t expect him to be there next year… that was just a 1 year deal for him”.

Doesn’t actually rule out another contract possibly being offered, but he does often have the good word so he may have heard something.

Indigenous Player Development Development Manager - Patrick Ryder (appointed March 6th)

Indigenous Welfare team member - Quinton Narkle (appointed 27th Feb)

Indigenous Director on Board - Dean Rioli (appointed Nov 22)

Davey boys, Tex.

If he has gone it just shows that you can put a lot of focus and resources on getting things right but that it’s ultimately in large part due to whether the kid wants to persist.

No idea what happened with Ryder though. Was his role and Narkle’s role replaced?

I mean there’s doing things.

And then there’s doing things properly.

Our recent history isn’t great on the latter.

Plenty of evidence of the former though.

Struggled on the VFL, seniors was way out of the question.

Cat B player with nothing but upside. Incredibly disappointing if he’s not on the list next year.

Sad if he’s leaving was always going to be a long term prospect

Has the tools to be successful his height and skills would of been a problem for any defender

Would love for him to stay and give it another crack next season and beyond.
