You say some stupid ■■■■, but this nonsense intrigues me.

No chance with Essendon or any AFL affiliated club.

To be fair, Cupido averaged about 10 touches a game that year. Caracella averaged 20 touches a game the two years before we traded him and gave us 30 odd goals a year too.

Absolutely there’s been worse trades though.

23 for that Pies spud Ritchie Cole.

or when we got Prismall from cats and could have slected Motlop.

Thought we paid too much for Cooney, bit of a dud draft, could have got Caleb Daniel.
Hibberd trade we blew the draft picks (Begley)

Sheil trade probably biggest and msot costly trade we have done, more so because we thought we were closer than we were and also players left.

Shiel was absolutely reasonable at the time.
The others you’re spot on.

Used the Lovett pick for Williams i think or traded to Cats for Prismall

Traded for two blokes with farked knees in Williams and Prismal lols

Why would that be? Seems strange

Prismall arrived at Essendon in the 2008 trade period, 12 months prior to Williams. At the end of 2009 we traded Lovett for Pick 16 from the Saints. We then on-traded that to Hawthorn for Mark Williams and Pick 24 (Jake Carlisle). Hawks sent Picks 9 and 16 (from the Williams trade) to Port for Shaun Burgoyne.

Mark Alvey

The fact Alvey supported Fark Carlton as a kid and still does now should have been enough of a red flag to steer clear.

LOL amateur hour from Essendon

Williams was obviously a terrible trade target due to his cactus knee, but even if you take him out of the equation, we essentially flipped Lovett (a train wreck) into Carlisle (who was very good for us and eventually netted us pick 5). Probably dumb luck, but we we actually came out of the trade ok, all things considered.

Then we flipped Carlisle into Francis, and Francis into a pick upgrade, which I think worked out as Alwyn Davey Jnr.

Pretty sure we got a pick for Jay Nash as part of it.

“Mark Williams join the Bombers for the 2010 season. The Bombers have traded pick No.16 - the selection it received for Andrew Lovett – to Port Adelaide, Pick No. 42 (Geelong) and Jay Nash (Port Adelaide) and acquired Mark Williams (Hawthorn), Pick No. 24 (Port Adelaide) and pick No.33 (Geelong).”

Still, we allowed Hawthorn to turn a broken Mark Williams and a Pick 9 that became Andrew Moore (who?) Into 250 games and multiple flags out of Shaun Burgoyne.

Giving Hawthorn that result makes this one of the worst trades ever.

The fact that everyone knew Williams knee was broken made it worse.

The only trade worse was the fact that Port Adelaide turned (in effect) Burgoyne, Carlisle and Allen Christensen into Jay Nash and Jasper Pittard.

we sent Francis and 42 to Sydney for 37

which we traded for Weideman and 54+72

and 54 got used on Jayden (ADJ went at 45)

How’s this… with the pick downgrade we did as part of the Carlisle deal (Ess pick 14 swapped for St.K pick 24), the Saints drafted Jade Gresham.

With 24 we drafted Alex Morgan. Whoops.

Alex Morgan. The youngster who decided he didn’t want to play footy anymore but we drafted him anyway… Those were the days

Williams trade was worth it for the after the siren celebration for a drawn preseason game.

Best moment of the last 20 years
