He spent most of the season before he left in Queensland, so I wouldn’t narrow it down to Melbourne.
Probably he would be happier in whatever city if he was not having his, er, social life, severely cramped bu being in a hub and not able to mix with the general population in the evenings…
I’m happy for him to come back, but needs to commit from Jan to September and no go home breaks in that time.
Not fussed if it’s for 1 season or more, we put players like Clarke on 1 year deals, not sure why we can’t do the same with Connor. He isn’t costing us a high draft pick to bring back. Low risk investment especially if he is player 44 on the list.
A week in late Feb would give him a mental freshen up before the season starts. Facts are he’s prone to homesickness. It would be reckless by the club and Conor to not plan to manage that. If he gets to Feb and feels happy to skip it, then great.
The trip home during the bye is sensible as well.
This just strikes me as getting back with your ex and then remembering why you left her. If you don’t do anything different this time, you repeat history.
I’d love to have him back, just think some sensible measures from day 1 would make it a safer punt.
I’ve got a couple of friends who are in the Gaelic club down here and spent a fair bit of time with him over the years in Melbourne. They’re 100% sure it’s one of his mates taking the ■■■■. The last year here they said was incredibly tough but before that he genuinely loved it here. He was always going home though. Used to joke that his mum wouldn’t meet him have an Aussie girlfriend in case he got trapped like Zac Touhy.
We’d fended off Brisbane IIRC to sign him again on his last contract which was a 4yr deal
He wouldn’t have been far off (or already was by final year) a $500k player from that.
Caldwell supposedly got a 4yr x $450k off far less exposed form.
He’d finished high in our B&F in 2019 (you can write off 2020 really). One of our better players and certainly if was to be recontracted $500k i don’t think is unrealistic at all.
You actually pay more for ‘hand distressed’ jeans. I guess it’s like paying mega bucks for a haircut that looks like you just got out of bed and haven’t brushed your hair yet.
A girl l worked with in China, wore a pair of jeans like that to her hometown to visit the family. While she was out her grandma took a look at them and promptly sewed the holes up, horrified that her grand daughter worked for a big company in a big city and still couldn’t afford a pair of jeans without holes in them.
Wore a pair to the footy one day. Not like pictured, it had the tiniest little tear in it. Wasn’t allowed in to the mcc, as they have their no ripped denim policy. Which is fair enough.
But the bloke genuinely suggested I walk to dimmies and buy a pair of trackies. $200+ jeans didn’t cut it, but $10 trackies, come on in…
