#45 - Tom Edwards thru 2026

I don’t believe there is any mechanism that gives us first crack at him.
You would hope we don’t stuff around with the decision either way.

He has got a contract yet?

I don’t think the knock on his IQ was limited to football.

Marks with eyes open.

Gross, they were both the epitome of essington. Bet there are still some who reckon Brown should be on the list :face_vomiting:

Sometimes in the same play.

Looks like a pre- pubescent Jason Johnson running around in No.14.

Frankly, if WC offered Edwards a spot, I wouldn’t begrudge him.

Get to stay in WA…rubbish team, ripe with opportunity (Darling gone, Maric moved to defense, Allen being courted by Brisbane) …Sheed did his ACL so they have a list spot.

If Menzie is in the 23 for the first game, then should fold the Club.

There’s 2 Harry Joneses, one played for Hawks. Wiki always defaults to the Hawks one for me too.

I’m going to go out on a limb here, he doesn’t impress me and I don’t really see the fit.

He’s 25 and won’t have much improvement left. He’s not a great size, and we’re already trying to fit Jones Wright Caddy Langford in the fwd line.

I asked someone who watches a lot of WAFL and said he’s the classic good WAFL player, would have thought he was nowhere near AFL level.

4 goalss is 4 goals, I’m just not that excited.

I think it’s very unusual that we looked for someone of his type. One of the benefits of Stringer going to me is the opportunity to play an extra small. We don’t need another medium.

But now he’s kicked 4 in a half, I don’t know what to think. Honestly, I think I’d rather leave a spot open or go Baldwin. I think Baldwin is a good player who is well out of form.

What?! The kid kicks 4 and is involved in other scoring opportunities and you’d rather Baldwin or nothing.

Crazy.

Doesn’t matter what size you are, some blokes are just natural forwards. It’s very rare to come across players like this, you don’t just pick blokes on size alone.

Edwards has shown he can mix it with AFL players and produce very good results after a very short period of AFL training. Although it’s only a praccy, he did things our experienced forwards & mids would love to do. That’s the truth. Imagine if it was Caddy off a step, kicking goals over his head and splitting the middle, what would we say - that’s what we hope Caddy can become right?”

How long has he been at the club, two weeks?

Edwards wasn’t supposed to be this good with the ground balls, but he is.

I can defo see a space for him at the club.

Goal kicking is perhaps the most underrated skill & the one that ultimately wins you games.

Kid is a late bloomer and has massive upside in a pro environment. He ain’t Chungus, he is a smoother mover with an excellent nose for a goal.

For me, it’s an easy decision to sign him.

Mind you I’ve been a big fan of Baldwin, but his body’s propensity for injury is more Amateur footballer than AFL .Durability makes finals…

It’s almost certain he gets signed this week - likely earlier than later so may as well we all get used to it - what number do we think he will end up with? I think it’s either 26 or 43 but I’m leaning towards 43 as Baldwin might end up coming back in mid-year for the 26.

Didn’t Waterman kick 4 and tear it up in a pre season game a few years back? That worked well for us!

i do understand this POV.

i think he’s worth a crack though. he’s got more tricks than jones, he’s got a side step, he doesn’t look like a fish out of water when the ball hits the deck, he’s got vision and ability to change angles which jones doesn’t have, he might not have jones’s leap or tank but i dare say his hands are actually better. i suspect he’s a more reliable set shot. 12 months in a professional program might see him really blossom, or it might not. not much to lose really.

tory dickson didn’t get onto an afl list until he was 25. he ended up having a 50 goal season in his late twenties in part at least because he was so efficient in front of goal. that sort of player is valuable, especially if they can run and chase (more than stringer at least). i think that sort of high efficiency players is even more valuable at the elite level because they don’t waste anything that comes their way. Menzie wouldn’t be causing such tension if his efficiency was better (i.e no fumbles, no wasted set shots). We’ve carried too many wasteful players in the past. Hell, we still do.

Not wearing that jumper anyhow!

Heres another potential club hero, who “could be anything”, could he be the one, in our never ending search for the second coming of John Coleman?

Yeh nah.
