Trunk Sock Sock
Latest bigfooty rumour has Wines to us and Tuth to Power
I hope they chuck in a 3rd rounder or no deal.

He’s not a f*cking ruckman.
We might aswell have Gleeson in the Ruck, as he’s the same height and build.
He’s a lot bigger than Gleeson, regardless of what the “official” stats say.
Saw him last year in the VFL Finals play in the ruck and he was the only one of 3 Pies ruckmen to give Draper - who dominated - any issues; principally through his vertical leap and rapid spread from the contest.
So he is a ruckman.
Yeah, way too small a sample size to really say it’s a genetic thing
I just don’t think his build is any great advantage. But his build is very different to Majak daw.
So who knows.
Ryder and Nic Nat have a good leap and so does Jok.
I Imagine he can jump a lot higher than gleeson.
Hoping Jok can be competitive in the ruck or around the ground.
And apply defensive pressure on the wing.
A couple of days ago I suggested Jok should get a game this week…specifically because of the opposition.
Teams like Richmond/Collingwood have led the AFL into new levels of running power. Maybe I should say sprinting. Anyway, when we come up against them, we simply can’t keep up. And it’s an advantage that wins in a reliable way.
There are a bunch of other teams where the differential is less pronounced, but still an issue. Eg. Dogs can be pretty slick.
Essendon got caught out, and IMO were still drafting pretty slow-off-the-mark players (I’m thinking Mutch, Clarke, Begley, Houlahan…so I have question marks on all these players at AFL level).
But in the last 12 months, Dodoro has woken up, drafting some serious running power:
- Jok
- Ham
- Snelling
Now, maybe Jok is being brought in for his relief ruck work instead (which is an unfair ask, but we are in the pooh)…anyway, I’m interested to see how we look when with another player who can simply keep up with the opposition.
Could be interesting to see him ruck against Grundy. At 74kg, I’m hoping if Grundy pushes him at his normal strength, Jok will give way so easily that Grundy might overbalance and fall over.
PS Come to think of it, Clarke might do the same
He’d be being brought in to play a specific role, hopefully that role is to shadow Sidebottom all day and to relieve whomever our ruckman is, whilst also being able to go with Grundy at ground level.
On the plus side Jok must be very durable to continue to play through all the injuries that come with Blitz sponsorship.
He has already missed a big chunk of the season
I’m telling you now. He is as slight as they come.
He might get away with being the chop out man at VFL level. But absolutely no chance at AFL.
Edit: Ryder and Naitanui are 196cm+
Jok is not that.tall and gets man handled at VFL level.
Hell I forgot we/I sponsor him.
I hereby withdraw all quibbles about his game and expect him to dominate on Friday.
Hope he has a killer debut.
On a chop out in the ruck role - watched a couple of games where he’s done this, and it’s more interesting than most - he’ll win very few, if any taps.
However his leap, even when being wrestled, seems to negate clear taps from his opponent- messy ruck taps resulted.
He’s also definitely ready to chase that messy ground ball post-tap - not with Drapers strength & ferocity- but effectively enough to have an influence.
Think a midfielder who can draw many contests and provide run and carry at the stoppage.
He has rucked ok in the games I have seen in the VFL. Not outstanding, but contests ok and second efforts can be good when he is switched on.
