#5 Devon Smith

I’m really just upset that you slagged off Superwog…

And I’m certainly not higher and mightier than you, you’re a good egg. Rosso - definitely, but that’s pretty easy

I really dislike the slagging off of players based on not much, while the game isn’t even half over, and particularly first game back in the seniors. I know some people find it cathartic, and I’ve done it myself, but generally I just think it’s farking stupid. But maybe that’s my issue, not anyone else’s

But he hasn’t been very good since

When McGrath, Shiel and Caldwell are back he won’t find it so easy to get a game. Edit, Snelling too

He’s lucky we currently have no depth in his position

In a tight game like today it’s lucky that crap didn’t cost us the result.

Only time I really noticed Smith was giving away 50s

His undisciplined actions should punt him back to VFL.

He was out of picture but bearing down and clearly going to be late, and I just waited for the whistle.

So selfish and undisciplined.

Selfish, undisciplined and his attitude is disgraceful

Couple of times having a go at Zach, Darcy and Jake for not kicking to him really made me feel like smacking him in the mouth (obviously I would then need to run away)

The guy is a midget, you’ll be fine.

There are signs that we are improving as a club when there is pressure on Smith to lift his game.

Fitness allowing I dont doubt the blokes professionalism to lift.

Smith being slightly off the mark is a good problem to have.

Which he would have allowed you to do today

definitely one we need to find an upgrade on.

He wouldn’t have caught you

You guys left out the bit that he is really hungry in front of goals, even if he can’t make the distance he’ll take a shot.

Needs a new role

Used to be my favourite player but I can’t forgive his undisciplined acts.
paying poorly is one thing, but giving away stupid unnecessary 50s is frustrating. The coaches are far more patient than I would be.
Must be a mental thing?? Surely it’s not enough to get a game just to crank up the aggro meter ??

its not even the undisciplined things that bother me the most, its just the shift of how good he was, to what he is now. yes, first game back from a hammy but he hasn’t been the same since the B&F year. I think people forget how good he actually was

Now, he’s not terrible, but he’s not awesome. he’s just a player and he’ll continue to get games, but I reckon the form drop off is Hurley Esque in terms of Beast to servicable.

His b&f year, he was a tackling machine.

The following year, he said the coaches told him that he doesn’t need “to chase everything and overtake team mates to lay a tackle”.

We haven’t seen the same tackling intensity since.
