I really dislike the slagging off of players based on not much, while the game isn’t even half over, and particularly first game back in the seniors. I know some people find it cathartic, and I’ve done it myself, but generally I just think it’s farking stupid. But maybe that’s my issue, not anyone else’s

I agree with you and I NEVER go to the game day thread.

However.

The way Smith behaves on the field, berating our own players, dumb free kicks etc is the problem. I wouldn’t care if he had a bad game but it’s the ■■■■■■ attitude he brings that is really starting to give me the ■■■■■.

You can overlook it a little when you are playing well but he hasn’t played well since his B&F.

So far this season Blitz has written off at various stages Hep, Langford, Francis, Stewart, 2MP, even McGrath & Stringer.

I’m confident Dev can turn it around. He’s capable.

Still think he has an important role to play for us in the future but definitely needs a spell in the twos to get his head right again because he sticks out like dogs balls atm with his selfish attitude and not having that ‘team first’ mentality

He’s been pretty average today, though has had more possessions to this point than 9 other of our players. But regardless when you’re coming back from injury you get a pass first up imo

He was less than average today, he was a liability that impacted us negatively. How many goals did his utter stupid he-man heroics cost the team today, 3? He gets no free pass from me, just because he is coming back from injury. When you pull on the jumper and boots, and you cross the line, you are there to play and contribute.

Smith is a shadow of his 2018 form. We don’t need his angry little man syndrome infecting the team spirit. Based on his game today, he will be fortunate to get a game next week. In the old fashioned parlance, he needs to pull his socks up, and get rid of the undisciplined free kicks and 50m penalties. Today he just played dumb. He wasn’t alone, but that is not the point. The point is, his efforts today were deplorable.

The following year, he said the coaches told him that he doesn’t need “to chase everything and overtake team mates to lay a tackle”.

We haven’t seen the same tackling intensity since.

I think you’ll find it’s not just about today, he’s struggled in the matches earlier this year, he didn’t do much last year either and 2019 was similar.

He’s been struggling for a while now, seems to have no zip or agility anymore.

That soccer off the ground to hooker (which lead to a goal) he looked like the tin man running for that.
