Merrett won’t be there next year maybe neither will parish and Elijah is streets ahead of most as a pure clearance machine.
The fact we haven’t locked him away for two years as a minimum depth player is madness.

Fair enough, it seems the case. His last game at the level he was only given about half a game and was among the best while on the ground, 95% disposal efficiency. I’m not gonna cry if he goes elsewhere but I find it seriously confusing that he hasn’t been given nearly the consecutive shots at it so many others have.
It’d be great if it was an old fashioned ply your trade in the 2’s development scenario but more chance he’s off to his mate Wardlaw at North like there were rumours of a while back.

He still struggle to kick it well and still doesnt apply himself strongly enough defensively.
I still think he should be playing ahead of Caldwell due to his vfl performances but the club would be very wary of giving him a contract given the last time he played AFL he almost failed to make contact with his boot on 3 consecutive kicks.
I really feel sorry for Tsatas because absolutely no doubt its a mental thing more so than technique, which has been massively exacerbated by him being dropped every second game by Brad ■■■■■■■■ Scott.
I personally think he if can continue to improve his use by foot than the defensive stuff isnt as much of a concern, because he is very good at finding the ball.

I agree fully and he is also a result of poor development.
He shouldn’t have had to go outside to get the support with his kicking and the role given at vfl level doesn’t fit what he needs to round out his game.
They should have given him run with roles or played different positions in the vfl like off half back to round out his game and work on the deficiencies

I honestly think he should have been told to just get the ball in the middle and move it forward.
He really remind me of Clayton Oliver at the stoppage, except Tsatas tries to be cute with it where Oliver just focuses on taking ground.
I would have no issue if every time time Tsatas won the ball out of the middle (which is alot to be fair) he just sent it forward.

The club had David Rath working with Tsatas to improve his kicking technique. Rath is renowned as an AFL kicking guru. He worked at Hawthorn during their last golden era.
Props to Tastatas for seeking outside kicking help during the offseason, but (as an outsider at least) it doesn’t appear that he wasn’t supported in that area the club. Happy to be corrected thought.

There’s obviously a time and place for the ‘hoof’, but ideally you’d like your mid’s to have a little more finesse than that. Remember how much grief our current skipper copped for the blind hoof around the corner when he also used to win his fair share of clearances?
Tstatas has fast hands and the ability to flick out a creative handball, I think he should use that as a strength. He should kick within his limitations, only when required, similar to Dunkley for example.

I don’t think he makes it here with us, but I’d like to credit him for turning up every week with the right attitude, may not have the intensity required at the top level but he improves small aspects of his game every year because he’s putting in the work.

You are right we had Rath but not being a track watcher I couldn’t tell you one way or another if he was employed to do this with the players or not.
As his title is game day strategist and coaching innovation or something like that Iam not sure if he is hand on with players or not.

I recall reading that Rath was working with Tsatas on his kicking, but like you I’m not a track watcher, so I can’t confirm this.

If it’s out of the middle there would be no +1 anything.
Of course, but centre bounces where 6-6-6 applies are a small percentage of overall stoppages.
He just needs to go to another club. Flourish. So we can then spend the next 10 years discussing why we played Parish and Setterfield ahead of him much like we talk about Weideman playing ahead of Voss. Unfortunately it’s the way it’s going to be

Even if you grant that the likes of Sharp, Robey, Roberts and Farrow are going to be better players than him, he’d still be a better depth player than the likes of Parish, Langford, Perkins, Setterfield, Caldwell and McGrath moving forward imo.
Merrett wants to leave and should be allowed to go to a Premiership contender as well, so that takes him out of the picture.
Tsatas doesn’t have many dimensions to his game, but the one dimension he is better at than anyone else at the club is fall of the ball play. Teams always need to win clearances and he can do it better than anyone on our list.
I wouldn’t want to let go of a guy that is already clearly the best at that when he’s just 21.

If Tom Sparrow does leave Melbourne, I wonder if they’ll look at Tsatas?
A friend highlighted a Tsatas attempt at a tackle 22.45 last quarter in the centre square. The Coburg player ran straight towards him and simply swatted him away with complete disdain. Tsatas needs to really lift in this area because that’s where he plays most of his footy- at the furnace. Even Parish lifted his tackle intensity.
Wow, talk about a downgrade.

He’s not going to stay to be depth. I get the impression he has quite a few tickets on himself.
Time to move from Tsatas. He’s basically a slightly faster Hately, but his defensive work is much worse.

If he had tickets on himself he would have told the club to go and fark itself years ago, and probably not without justification.
That he has kept a level head throughout that time without letting his effort drop tells me otherwise.
