#5 Elijah Tsatas

Work in progress. Skillful and good ball winner but not a natural defender and needs to keep working on his defensive running / positioning

His kicking is as bad as Iā€™ve seen on our list. My only hope is that when heā€™s in the guts heā€™s doing everything so much faster that somehow it kind of comes together. Itā€™s bizarre that a simple kick after a mark under no pressure can look so bad. How was this not obvious pre draft?

Even guys like Hardingham could make consistent contact with the pill. There was on play tonight where Elijah took a mark on HBF, and it was clear that he had no easy kicks, so all he should do is bomb it to centre wing so we could spoil over the line and reset. He couldnā€™t even do that, he went full Leroy Jenkins and tried to hit someone up in the corridor and promptly turned it over. Horrendous. Was a terrible example of light years between his confidence and actual capability.

How many targets did he miss today by foot?

Thereā€™s two aspects to that.

Firstly he doesnā€™t miss the targets that he doesnā€™t even aim at because he has no confidence in his kicking.

And secondly, I donā€™t remember any good or decent kicks. I remember one bad turnover, one bad kick and one average one. And a lot of great handpasses in close.

I remember most of his kicks going directionally to a leading Essendon player, where the truth is between our statements idk

I think he lands it in the same postcode as a red sash too. Sometimes.

Recon Hobbs had a handful of better games last year than Tsatas ever has.
People are really forgetting how good he was.

This year though being played out of position I agree Tsatas has given us more so far when he has played.

I remember Martin and Ridley making some howlers, I donā€™t remember Tsatas making any. Anyway based on todayā€™s performance he should be sent into the middle for Perkins and to boost our clearance numbers

Going to be a jet. Parish like hands.

Parish used to miss targets on a regular basis.
Tsatas knows where he fits in and has the hunger to improve his game.
Well played tonight on the big stage.

I was right behind him when he marked in the HBF last night and had no options to kick to. He legitimately has zero confidence and penetration in his kicking and itā€™s extremely worrying.

Will do well in close but thereā€™s a few very handy players in that draft who would add something to our team. Fingers crossed he comes on.

Of great, can we go back retrospectively and pick them? If not, no one farking cares.

At least Dylan Clarke could thump it some distance.

His hands are fantastic.

I thought he was supposed to be an explosive mid? Saw him get beaten for toe a couple of time when he was chasing.

Yeah, pretty sure thereā€™s A LOT of people who care about key decisions in the top 5 of a draft.

This kicking shouldnā€™t be a surprise.

The players now playing in Hobbsā€™ preferred position have more tricks and more output, in Caldwell, Durham and Perkins.

Worst kick in Essendon colours? What absolute and utter horseshit.

Like i mentioned last year and had a disagreement with someone on here about it, the talk of Humphrey being a worse kick than tsatas was some great Essendon goggles, humphrey always had some really good penetration in his kicking, it was just directional in his under age year and heā€™s mostly cleared that up now. I saw this stat the other day that just confirms it. Also of interest our best kick inside f50 which is a real improvement is Caldwell, he too wasnā€™t a great kick for a while, but at least has that punch behind it which gives more scope for improvement, thatā€™s the concern with tsatas.

I actually thought tsatas was reasonably good last night, but yes taking a top 5 pick with this flaw in his game is a big gamble, hopefully it can get to a point where he can kick safely those 30m kicks at least and get them to flatten out a bit.

Itā€™s a fascinating thing to watch in here. Guy has a good game and a few of the usual people come in here to focus only on his kicking. Itā€™s like a disease for them, their disliked player plays well and they canā€™t just praise him, they have to try and find the negative.

Jesus Christ.

No surprise with Caldwell there. Kicking has been superb this season.

Needs to take parishs time in the centre. Play him in his natural position.
