#5 Elijah Tsatas

Yes by why repeat the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over?

Seriously, maybe just stop for while, it isn’t going to be fixed in just a few weeks. Repeating it ad nauseum is hardly constructive or necessary.

I just talked to Chris Drains hairdresser and he says he is a gun.

I’m really confused now.

Which I’ve never disputed.
But I’m also realistic enough to understand

  1. It’s being addressed.
  2. It will take time to see improvement

What, during the bye because there will be no kicks to criticise ?

I’m genuinely baffled by all this chat about his kicking. Admittedly I’ve only seen what he has offered at AFL level but it’s hardly the calamity people refer to here.

He isn’t a Zach Merrett kick but he doesn’t look anything worse than average

Yeah but blind Freddy and his mother can see it, why can’t you?

Perhaps his mum is my mum and my dad is blind Freddy?

No one talks about it, but he’s not the best kick.

No one in this forum is contributing to his development either positively or negatively one iota.
It’s largely irrelevant in the scheme of things, it’s just a place where people Get to share competing views.

The more people defend, the more people will respond with their contrary critical observations.
It doesn’t make those who are cricital wrong or even unreasonably critical, and it certainly doesn’t make those who defend right because simply put, they would see themselves as being positive and constructive.

nonsense.

The weight of criticism and from what I can see not by a few but many is overwhelming, and that in itself says something.

Maybe if he tore a game apart wed shut up for a bit. He’s been pretty underwhelming, actually, very underwhelming thus far. He’s had some ok moments, but hasn’t done much and doesn’t look to be doing much any time soon either.

I’m still bullish on him but it’s entirely dependent on him playing in the guts. I have no faith that will happen in the short term.

It’s going to be a long, painful burn with Elijah.

You have to be a bit nuanced and read between the lines, but the kicking chat is there- albeit cryptic.

Look just because I’m speaking the truth you don’t need to call me names.

No one is really “defending” his kicking. Quite literally he played an decent game, no real major issues and the first thing talked about is “oh he is a bad kick”. It wasn’t needed and still isn’t. It’s discussed almost everyday and is a pointless exercise in stupidity.

He is ok if he’s kicking short passes. He can’t kick the ball 45m without shanking it though.

He marked the ball in the backline yesterday, then kicked it to a contest between Caddy and Balta when Caddy was behind in perfect position, but the kick dropped short. The kick literally only went 40m. His focus on technique is compromising his penetration. It’s a concern.

Game tearing ability is a bit limited when 3 of the 5 games you have played are as the starting sub and are then subsequently played out of your best position.

I told my mate being at his 2nd game that is a shithouse kick, he said nah give him a chance. he drops the ball way too high, accuracy and penetration decreases dramatically. I dont know how we didnt pick this up in the pre draft process, the no.1 skill in footy is knowing how to kick. He is now like 20 years old and things dont change very much from here. We may be in strife with him here yikes. Anyways Roberts looks good in the VFL …

I agree completely. He’s not getting a good crack at it at all.

Pro tip. If you think the content of a thread is pointless and cyclical, you are under no obligation to read it and are permitted to do something else which you find more fulfilling.

I’m more concerned about Hobbs’ limited kicking.

Last week, Hobbs took a mark 40m from goal. Team mates sprinted past to provide a short option, because they didn’t think he had the distance. This gave me flashbacks to Snelling…then Hobbs sprayed it about 25m.

And around the ground, Hobbs’ hop-preparation when kicking slows him down…and he kicks them loopy…as he tries to break the record for number of revolutions on the ball…ok, that’s probably enough.
