#6 Joe Daniher - wants out of Tulla on the full

Didn’t he meet with them when Essendon sent him to a specialist in Sydney?

So basically we paid for him to meet with another club and lure him to them?

There should a clause put in to the trade that if he straightens out his goal kicking we get a future draft pick.
I will be ■■■■■■ every time he nails one from 30 Metres out dead in front.

We must play hard ball for the trade of Joe,Dodoro should reciprocate a fare trade with swan.rumour is that swan want to give us 5&9,the know is Joe a champion the unknown is pick 5&9,every case of champion player going to another clubs they always pay over,so we should demand for both Blakey and McCartin or Blakey ,Heeny

I’m not saying he pulled a good year out of his backside, nor was I saying he wasn’t improving.
What I am saying is, he is not a star.
But he has always been treated as such.

He will get his trade to Sydney, no doubt about it imo. The majority of players do. Why would anyone want to have this whole dominating in the media for another 12 months at Essendon

Bend Sydney over and get the best deal possible, and wave goodbye to the man child.

Whether you trust dodoro in drafting is one thing, but when it comes to trading he very very very rarely loses out in deals. When is the last time we have held the whip hand in a deal? Not for a long time, he will be fully erect at the thought of flexing Sydney

Tom Green joins Bobby Hill at GWS.

Pretty distasteful TBH.

My 2020 membership hinges on how the club handles this. If they play hardball I will upgrade to silver. If they capitulate I’m out completely. Not even my 2 year old nephew is getting a membership His Magpie mother will be happy.

Ive seen nothing from the club to suggest this is not what they wanted. A bit of lip service sure. But I have seen no mention of Daniher turning down a 5 year contract extension with us. I mean did we even offer an extension. I reckon there are a few people happy at the club right now.

If you think he’s a star that’s fine.
For me I like my stars to have achieved something. Premierships, Coleman medals, Brownlow medals, multiple B&f’s.
Hird, Wanganeen, Martin, Lloyd etc. players that have achievements.
Not just a name and potential.

Look, I’m probably not as angry as others because I simply don’t rate him that highly. And this isn’t a hindsight thing, I’ve been saying it on these boards for years.

His kicking started off terrible, and hasn’t got any better - which doesn’t say much for his application or his commitment, in my view. He doesn’t look particularly toned - I know he’s the lanky type, but would anyone say he’s at, or ever has been at, peak fitness? He’s not a smart footballer in terms of when where he runs, when he leads etc. And his showboating is often at the expense of the team - how many silly free kicks does he give away because he’s trying to take mark of the year all the time?

And all of that is not even taking into account his injuries.

He’s talented yes. And I do love watching him play. But he’s always struck me as a player with enormous potential but who will never deliver on that potential. I really do think that if we trade him for two good picks, or a good pick and a young player, that we will end up in front in the long run.

joes a bizarre anomaly in that despite all those flaws, he can still be the best big tall in a season.

So much doom and gloom on here. Not many Essendon players leave and become better elsewhere. Joe is still a kid at heart and I don’t think Sydney will change that. Buddy will ensure he has a good time whilst having enforced injury times.
A door closes and an opportunity opens for someone else. Bellchambers, hooker, a returning Stewart can all play forward. Who knows there may be a kid elsewhere or in the draft that will become a superstar. Fantasia can go too. Everyone is replaceable.
