#6 Jye Caldwell - thru 2028

I don’t know.

Either way, he’d be outside GWS’ best side, but he’d be inside ours. Keeps Clarke & Cutler et al off the park.

hes listed at 183cm. this guy will tower over our current midfield rotation.

Surely there are at least SOME highlights of him playing for GWS?

Couple of nice kicks and a goal on his wrong side. Good work around the stoppages.

A lot to like. Hope he comes on.

Managed nine Neafl games in 2019 after not playing until Round 5. Averaged 20.6 disposals and 6.1 tackles across those 9 matches, including a game where he was injured early. That game followed a 32 possession outing. Unfortunately, he then missed 6 weeks. Finished the year with two games in which he laid 23 tackles!?

There aren’t any stats for 2020 due to Covid scratch matches but the match reports often praised him (for his stoppage work iirc).

When it comes to his price tag we need to look at it like this.

He will be a 3rd year player. He is given a 4 yr deal on $2m ish. We should not expect him to play like a 500k player next year, it is unrealistic and unfair.

We should look at it like this.

Next year he is worth 300k
2nd year of deal 400k
3rd year of deal 600k
4th year of deal 700k

So let’s not say he isn’t worth it after 10 games next year. If we keep him fit, I think by year 3 and 4 we may think 500k is cheap.

is he a good kick at least? we kinda need guys who can kick…

Nah, he is a very ordinary kick really.

If we play chaos territory footy then he is great because he can hoof it long. But if we recruited Ben Brown then old crusty is gonna get a sore neck…

Not really interested in what he did as a kid three seasons ago. Are there any highlights of him in AFL games?

It is ■■■■ that Giants lose a player after 2 years.
They should do something like the NBA rookie contracts.

Ely Smith coming too?

Yeh good question. Unsure sorry

Sorry? He’s just a kid, gee. Quick to judge.

So… 6 kicks a game over 11 games. That’s 66 kicks in his career. So apparently he’s had 32 ordinary kicks in his career and we’re worried? Ok then.

“Sorry Jye, we’re after Sam Walsh, being a destination club and all, and you can’t kick… We think…”

He was the Giants first pick in that year, I’d be happy if we picked him up, especially if he wants to come to the club committing for 5 years. Refreshing.

Lol l have no doubt he’s talented. But is he the type of player we need? There seems to be very little method to our madness. Feels like Shiel all over again.

I’m extremely concerned that we are offering long term deals to players with recurring soft tissue injuries.

Hes fine. And over them.

Jyes a good bet.
