#6 Jye Caldwell - thru 2028

As long as it’s not the Shiel cost in draft picks.

So the trend is up…if he plays 20 next year, thats a win

The method is we are a destination club again!

The funny thing is we could have picked him instead of Sheil in the first place as he was picked with the pick we gave up for Shiel.

some said he was the second best mid in his draft year behind Walsh.

obviously hasn’t impressed as much as quite a few others from his draft year.

Duursma, Rozee, Bailey Smith, Rankine, Qaynor Jordan clark etc

i wouldn’t mind also having one of O’Halloran or Ely Smith as well if they want to come home and we can add them to caldwell/daniher deals.

Good points to consider - but very different outlay to the Shiel deal, which makes all the difference.

He is an inside mid…need

And now we have both…is that a win?

Only if we get a second rounder back

You seem to want to criticise everything about the club at the moment. Everything.

Caldwell is a physical inside mid player who likes to tackle and win his own footy. How is that not something we need? McGrath does all the inside defensive work. Shiel and Parish don’t do the defensive elements as well as they should, Smith will never be that great ever again and Merrets defensive efforts have gone down ever since the concussion.

Caldwell is an excellent addition in terms of style. Hopefully he proves it with performance as well.

so you’re saying… if he plays 20 games we’ll get a win

that’s pretty good going

When all the people who actually see his physique in 2021 and his physicality people will start to realise he is going to be more physically imposing than any of our current midfield (which isn’t hard). He isn’t a step backwards in terms of size and physically, he is a step in the right direction.

I hope so. He ain’t ‘big’ though, as far as I can see

Two 1st rounders for Caldwell, and a 4th rounder for O’Halloran if he goes to Hawthorn.

That’s all we need… more mids that kick the ball on-top of tippas head, FFS

He might not be the “big body mid” our midfield balance would like…

But he certainly seems to have a bit of mongrel and hard tackling ability that we could use. If we’re getting him for a pick between 17-25 then you’re getting a very good value trade that any team would jump at.
