#6 The Joe Dan Thread - the bit between Diggers trolling us and THE RETURN

Heard some encouraging news, mate?

Not sure he’ll play before Anzac Day, however I take your optimism on board and agree.
This joint has become soooo negative lately.

What would his fitness be, right now? I’m guessing not running for a long time, very low. He’d need at LEAST a couple of weeks in the VFL for match fitness and touch before being considered, which would mean he would basically have to be ready for the first few weeks of VFL before seniors

To go from where he is right now, to playing in 8 or so weeks would be some kind of miracle.

I desperately hope your right and trust your word, but I can’t see him getting to a point right now, of playing within 10 weeks. He’d basically need to start training next week.

I’d he does play before Anzac day it’ll be a miracle.

If he does play sooner than ANZAC day I hope it’s because he’s 110% ready and not rushing his recovery.

Bwahahah that’s funny.

This coaching group does not play an anointed player in the VFL! He will come in underdone ANZAC day and get owned by Moore.

So we’re gonna rush him back early again… going to end well

Does sound like a miracle for Anzac Day since he’s been essentially unsighted on the track…

However, the groin guru has said gets players back to returning to play on average over 9wks (from 400 patients data).

It is 12wks to Anzac Day, and JD is either through stage 1 of recovery process already or (if been running behind closed doors) potentially even about to progress from stage 2 to 3.

So to be back before Anzac Day IF the program/rehab is a success is not unthinkable at all. It’s a big IF however since nothing has worked with JD thus far with other treatment programs/surgery.

I don’t think he’ll play for us again. Hope foggy is right tho

11 weeks till Anzac day sure, but do you not think he needs at least a stint in the VFL? It’d be a rookie mistake not to, and one Murphy wouldn’t make imo. After 2 years of minimal footy, he needs some touch surely. Yep, he’s a talent. We saw him do it against north on no pre season, but that was a mistake and only out of necessity

But further to my point, even if it’s only 11 weeks till Anzac day, unless something changes dramatically there is nothing to suggest he is even close to full training

I’ll reiterate, I hope your right, and I’m completely wrong but I cannot see him playing. You’ve got the good oil though, so let’s hope your right rather than optimistic or opinion

Assuming he starts his preseason now. I’m not even confident he will start his preseason before Anzac day.

I hope your right cause I don’t think we can finish top 4 and have a crack at a flag without him.

It’s not like he’s resting and immobile. Swimming and gym nearly everyday from what I’ve heard. He’ll definitely need the km’s in the legs to prevent other injuries and to take part in training to get touch but he won’t need a big block once he joins full training. However it’s still a mystery when he gets back to running.

Its one position where missing a pre-season isnt going to kill him. Play out of the goal square.

Cos joe has shown an ability to wrestle defenders out of the goal square.

Juat saying its not the same as a midfielder or any other position for that matter, where missing so much woukd be much worse

If he does play again, make him play a few games in the vfl before he plays in the seniors. Let him get some match fitness and touch in the VFL for bringing him up.like we should of done last year
