#6 The Joe Dan Thread - the bit between Diggers trolling us and THE RETURN

He won’t play VFL. The blokes a superstar.

Will slot straight into our best 22 when fit.

A lot of (pessimistic) guess work here, no one aside from him and the club know how he’s travelling, and until that changes via an update from club / he’s sighted at training (running), there’s no point commenting on it. 90% of people ruling him out of a game 11 weeks from now and some ruling him out altogether? I’d suggest to take a breath, don’t feed into the Tom Browne BS about him and focus on how fit the side is esp Stringer & Raz.

Lol, whatever his fitness, he’ll play VFL first.

He can play with his sock for all I care.

Well he should to get his match fitness up. No point chucking him straight into the high intensity of AFL and he re aggravates it and is out again within a month

You can do all the training and prep you want, but nothing compares to actual match fitness

I agree about the rest of the side being in pretty good shape, and focusing on that. Joey is just a distraction at this stage, he won’t play, focus on other stuff.
I’d love it if Fogdog turns out to be right, but I just can’t see Joey’s luck changing, he’s cooked.

There’s no way @fogdog could be right - would be as likely as that ridiculous idea he had about a coaching panel about a year before it happened - all of those years ago.

I can’t see it.

He won’t return to training running until next month, he’ll need a good 8 weeks getting fit. I’d suggest May or even June for mine.

If he plays before the bye l will be pleasantly surprised.

Not sure he needs 8 weeks to get fit.

Richmond played Tom Lynch out of the goal square in Round 1 last year off literally only 2 weeks training.

Doesn’t mean we should do the same - my preference would be to have him complete full training for 4 weeks (after gradually increasing his training loads) and then play in the seniors. Not sure playing him in the VFL is going to prove anything.

Doesn’t Buddy only train 10 minutes a year? I don’t want to rush Joe, but if the real issue is the method of treatment, then starships are meant to fly.

Agree entirely
Lets just hope Joey gets over his injury
What happens after that happens- it will work out the way it will

All of this pessimism assumes he has been doing zero aerobic training indoors. We have a pretty good facility down there at the hanger.

What’s your level of confidence here @fogdog ? I’d suggest even Joey doesn’t know if he’ll ever get his body right.
Maybe they haven’t ruled it out yet, as in “if all goes to plan”?

Get him to speak to Novak Djokovic. ■■■■ looks like he’s dead at the end of the 3rd set and amazingly rises like Lazarus by the 5th…

Why?

Just for a moment imagine the level of meltdown that would occur if it was proven that Lloyd ■■■■■■ up JD by ruining his groin through having no idea about bio mechanics and teaching him to kick in a way that results in OP and him requesting a trade to Sydney where he then gets his body right.

Because bringing him straight back in worked excellently last time…

He will have played about two games in 2 years. Probably not the worst idea to get some match fitness, touch and prove he’s not going to break down again

If he’s going to break down again it’ll happen regardless of where he plays. No point having him kick bags in the VFL, especially if we might only see him for a few matches before the ■■■■ hits the fan. He’d be in the same situation right now whether he came in through the VFL or AFL last season.
