Thats a massive factor. I was wondering how that worked.
If we extended his contract during the year I presume we would also be covered salary cap wise in the event of a breakdown in future years.
It could give us heaps of leverage.
We would be the only club who could access that exemption next year with a mid season extesion would we not?

You would make more money from the amount of times people mention that we can get it from Sydney.
I believe the idea is that unless they are ensured of getting Daniher they plan to hold Papley to his contract.
It is possible that the only way this gets done is a multi-team trade that involve a few picks and players. Sydney do not seem overly keen to get him at a high cost (despite chasing him consistently over a long period of time) and Essendon are not prepared to let him go unless the deal completely favours us.

If you are Gold Coast and you have offered Ben King an extension and he has refused to sign and you aren’t making any progress with his management…If a club came knocking with picks 5 & 9 you would have to seriously consider it.

So why not get Papley involved in a multi-team trade rather than waiting to see what happens? While the media continue to blame Essendon for the hold up, in reality the hold up is completely due to the Swans. They started this and they need to be the ones to finish it.
They will knock it back. They are swimming in draft picks. They have so many draft picks, they dont know what to do with them. They have said since the O’Meara trade that they’re looking for ready made quality players. Ben King is going to be the biggest name in next years trade period. Every vic club will have a crack at him
Why doesn’t Gold Coast go after the other king. Reunite them up their, it’s not like StKikda is an awesome club.
Gold Coast has way more picks than StKilda do.
See only an Essendon fan would know this tidbit.

Because they both want to live in Victoria. Ben and his management hated the idea of being at the suns so much, they tied to say that ben couldnt be drafted there because of a medical condition. Suns took him anyway…
I’m not laughing at anyone although I’ve come close with @BLOODSTAINED_DEVILS working himself up into all sorts of conniptions over my input. He’s funny without even trying.

Yeah obviously dependant on that, but I dont completely buy the noise around we wouldn’t accept 5&9. I reckon that’s just heresay and perhaps mind games
