Essendon Football Club can confirm small forward Leroy Jetta will seek a fresh start next season, after both parties mutually agreed to part ways. Jetta, who has played 93 games in the red and black since being drafted in 2006, said the time was right. “It is a difficult decision to move on after eight years at Essendon but the time is right to look for new opportunities elsewhere,†Jetta said. “I‘ve been lucky enough to play under some terrific coaches, including James Hird and Mark Thompson, and I would like to thank everyone at the Essendon Football Club for the support they have shown me, especially my teammates.†“I‘d also like to thank the fans and supporters. I will always look back at my time at Essendon with great memories.†Jetta‘s manager Colin Young said he had been in discussions with the Club recently. “I've met with Adrian Dodoro over the last 3 months to discuss Leroy‘s future,†Young said “Obviously he wasn‘t playing senior football and Leroy decided it was time to seek a new home and opportunities at another club.†“Importantly, this decision has not been made in relation to any other matter†Essendon Head of Recruiting and List Management Adrian Dodoro thanked Leroy for his service to the Club. “Leroy is a great person and has been an exciting player for our Club over many years," Dodoro said. “Unfortunately he hasn‘t been able to break into the senior team this season despite playing some really good footy in the VFL.†“We wish Leroy and his family all the best for the future and hope he finds a new home at another Club in the coming few months.â€
Classy exit by him and his manager to confirm exit wasn't due to any other matter
But but but Craig Hutchinson and Damien Barrett said it was because of ASADA.........Jetta and his manager must be inveterate liars who are nothing more than scumbag mouthpieces for the AFL.
Remember when he had nine goes at picking up a slippery ball when he was fifteen metres clear of Harry O'Brien 20m out from goal to win the 2009 Anzac Day game?
All the best to him, just stagnated a bit over the last few years.
One of my favourite memories of him was Round 1 against the Cows in Adelaide about 5 or 6 years ago when he towelled them up and I went bunta in the stands after we beat them

That was his debut in 2007.
Kicked a couple, set a couple up, we won interstate, Scott Lucas kicked a bag..
Thought we were going to be good again after the hyped 2006 "super draft"... Gumby, Jetta, Hislop, Davey, Houli, Reimers..
Our one and only priority pick now gone from the club. Not surprising considering he still hadn’t cemented himself in the first team after 8 seasons. Leroy always was an almost player: almost kicked the goal, almost tackled his opponent, almost hit the player lace out on his chest. Pity he couldn’t reach his potential with us, I wish him all the best for the future.

His debut match along with Davey. Good times.
The following week against Freo.
I remember David Hille was able to tap a contested ball over the top of the pack, In front of Jetta.
Leroy ran the length of the wing, brought the ball inside 50.
Hird was free at the top of the goal square. Jetta didn't even acknowledge him, only had eyes for the goals and slotted it from the boundary line.
Hird said after the game, he was about give him a spray. But then realised he kicked the goal.
If only he carried on from this!

I was classy enough to only think that.
I went full emotional spectrum inside 25 seconds. Murderous to something far beyond jubilant. A big hello to everyone that was level 2a of the southern somewhere around p9 that day.
In the interests of fairness, I also once saw Jetta dance majestically selling dummies interspersed with little pump-fakes and shimmies around about eighteen players and snap truly in a pre-season game at the footscray end of etihad and thought 'how good is this guy gonna be?' sometime around 2008/9/10. Can't remember who it was against, looked good though.

Was that his first game? 2007?
Not sure if it was his first game but seem to recall the Crows had got back into the game and Leroy took a decent mark and got pole axed. Got up and kicked the goal and the Adelaide crowd went nuts, may have got a 50m for it. Too long ago now
