Um.
A team can't just do what a coach asked.
I actually know one of the head coaches very well. And I discussed down south footy at length.
You simply cannot put in the same defensive structures as you do in a mild climate.
I don't think you get it. Saturday it was 34 degrees with 70% humidity.
But because you are the coach and you told them so they will gut run defensively, set up rolling zones and so on they can do it.
Ahhh I don't think so.
They don't even setup zones. It's one on one everywhere.
So the brand of footy has adapted to the climate
I have trouble sitting int he stands it's so hot.
I watch a lot of NTFL footy and am involved at one of the clubs and know a lot of the people involved.
I see from U12s through to seniors.
But sure. Feel free to tell me how it is from your couch down south.

They don't, doesn't mean they can't.
Get a serious coach and serious fitness regimes and it could be done.

Ok mate.
I'll tell Wally Gallio your feedback.
By that exact statement proves you know absolutely nothing about NT footy.
Cool man. I'll tell my neighbour Darryl.
I think the point with the name drop is that it's one that somebody's heard of?

Funny, I googled "your neighbour Darryl" and got about 500 hits. They were all redtube and xvideos though, and I'm at work, sooo….

Exactly my point. You know nothing but you still post as if you know everything.
Wally is the Talent & Coaching Manager for the NT and NT Thunder appointed by the AFL to oversee the NT program.
I'll tell him HAP said the coaches are good enough and need to take fitness seriously.
I'm sure because you've made over 33,000 posts on Bomberblitz he will sit up and take notice.
I think if Jetta is in good place and happy playing footy, it will be reflected in his output and confidence. If he ends up doing it up North rather than somewhere else in the AFL then so be it. As long as he's enjoying his footy again!

Other AFL clubs would be silly not to consider. I mean, those two plays alone justify some sort of quality skill level.
I think the problem at Essendon was that either he wasn’t feeling confident amongst the group or he wasn’t being used in the right position…
I think clubs like The Saints or the Bulldogs could use a player like Jetta.

A lot of professional footballers play here Oct-March and then go south and play again.
They can still make 100K playing footy all year round.

Amazing when you think about it, great money, probably a good lifestyle as well.

yeah but 36 deggas and 70% humidity....
lot of players from the local leagues head upto NT in the off season as well.
I'm with HAP. I go up once a year to watch a round of footy and see about 3 shepherds in the whole round that I watch. Most of the players are getting by on ability alone and I'm pretty sure a lot of their instructions are "get the ball and razzle". Mind you, you do see a bit of that. I think it's just too much of a crapshoot for recruiters trying to pick the ones that you could pluck, plonk in a 7 degree Melbourne winter and teach structures for 3 off seasons before successfully slotting into an AFL 22.

Does every league have to mimic the AFL? Nothing wrong with a league and its clubs, developing their own style of footy, that suits the needs of the players, climate extremes, spectators etc.
There is more than one way to play footy.
Anyone would think he is still at Essendon the way this thread keeps going.
It's the old love/hate thing.
Just,
can't,
let,
go.
I want to know if the club's been talking to HAP's neighbour Darryl.

Leroy was Paddy's stable pony. We no longer have the horse, so there is absolutely no need to keep the pony.
