Best captain since Hird
He is a āleave no stone unturnedā type of guy though.
If we had even a handful with his mentality weād likely be a contender.
If we win enough games and he continues in this form he is having a potentially Brownlow season imo
I am beginning to believe we will remember him as better than Hird by the end of his career.
If this bloke can turn around this ā ā ā ā ā ā culture and turn us into a team of ruthless competitors then he will be twice the leader that Hird was.
Maybe not quite as brilliant a player, but heās beginning to own the moments and we are seeing his peak now.
If he does that, odds are heād become the second highest Brownlow medal vote winner at Essendon behind Hutchison.
Granted, Hutchison and Reynolds were both denied votes due to WW2 impact on the VFL.
I think by the time his career is done, irrespective of him winning a medal or not, heāll be the highest vote getter in the clubās history.
Heathen
Hird, Buckley and Voss were the big 3 of their era.
Zach probably still has a way to go before heās in that conversation.
No doubt, but Hird inherited a great club as captain, while Zerrett inherited a ā ā ā ā show. The hardest job in leadership is the turnaround - you have to be an uncompromising prick to make it work. Allan Border was a good example.
So if Zach is our AB, who are our Tubby Taylor and Steve Waugh?
jake stringerā¦
Ben McKay.
Meets the has a twin requirement.
Not vanilla enough
I just watched the whole interview. Zac is super impressive and it is a great story.
So did I, he is super impressive, best Essendon player for a long time.
Just hope he gets some on field success, he deserves it.
Need to get this guy a flag
I think the flag race will be wide open for the next few years if we keep improving and getting better we are with a chance
We owe him a flag.
Maybe we trade him to GWS?
I will be gutted if he doesnāt play in a winning final. Itās the very least that he deserves. He is our heart and soul.
Itās such a mental hurdle/road block for the team to over come.
If we can win a final the sky is the limit imo.
Looking at the coaches votes v the Saints it is interesting - he got a 5 from one coach and no votes from the other. Similarly I think Martin got 4 from one coach and not the other or Seb Ross got 4 from one coach and not the other.
