Fair, and I agree, its just a big fall from 3 first rounders and a player to 1 first and a couple of seconds. Yeah I know the first rounders last year were not the best but we can use there words against them and say well you said it was 3 first rounders which was deal of the century, it’s now 2 first rounders so we are talking less.
Finish last and the system still finds a way to make you weaker. Fabulous little equalisation initiative, this free agency malarkey.

It depends how many players of his calibre are available. If the hawks want a gun midfielder then they have to pay what we want for him. At least we won’t be ambushed like last year.

Winning a flag would not make them less likely to want Merrett. That’s not how it works.

For Merrett, would there be the same excitement joining a club that has, without you, already climbed the mountain?
From Hawks supporters’ perspective, which premiership hero is being dropped to let Zac have a spot.
I reckon if Hawthorn win it all, both sides are likely to cool somewhat on the prospect of a trade.
