#7 Zerrett - Welcome to Hotel California

He’s a flog

Hopefully it means a very good deal or he stays. And if he stays it’s sans captaincy. But you would imagine his manager isn’t going to make it so public unless he knows the buyer will pay up.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Anyone on here going to the Crichton and can feed us back the gossip?

If you like. I’m not pretending to know anything about what’s really going on, but I can see results and effort. We’re losing some of our best players and feeling good about the likes of Redman heroically spreading the dirty laundry, in so doing undermining any trade advantage we might have. Other teams now know there’s insurmountable division and Merrett is there for the taking. Idiotic.

Nice.

Don’t be so naive. Clubs know exactly what’s happening behind the scenes. Tom Petroro is briefing everyone in the football landscape to blow this thing up.

■■■■ Zach Merrett and ■■■■ playing nice. He’s contracted. Pay up or he can rot in the VFL for all I care.

Well there’s certainly a lot of people in here who seem to know the ins and outs. I’m glad he’s going, it makes sense as we aren’t contending for years and we need picks. Underperforming players going to the media and letting everyone know how we’ve been blindsided and were yet again clueless is not my definition of ‘strong’

I don’t know about everyone else but when I said I wanted Essendon to be relevant in September this isn’t quite what I meant.

Insurmountable? 4 players want out. A ruckman who can’t get on the park (but was torn), a defender who would’ve played vfl if no injuries and is not in our plans anyway (Laverde), another defender who can’t get on the park who was happy to extend not long ago and take more $$, and the skipper who swore allegiance only a handful of weeks ago (and is in the back 3rd of his career). Good riddance to the lot of them imo. I’m more than happy to bank on the future talent we have and will gain soon and assure they are no where near the cancerous poor leadership that has existed within our playing ranks.

While Zach’s form did waver slightly towards the end of the season he is a long way from being Hanneberry level. Dan was beset by injuries which seriously impinged on his form and curtailed his career.

And i’ve just been called a flog, naive and guilty of a shocking take for bemoaning a clusterfark media approach and advocating for Durham and Roberts over the dregs of our senior cohort that are left. Maybe I should sign off with ‘Zach’s a snake’ or some pointless ■■■■ like that.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

Too much happens in texts and private conversations.

(Not a shot at you, at all.)

it’s a shame we are missing out on an all timer of a WOB rant right now.

The Laverde commentary from the media is funny. If Essendon offered him a 2 year contract I reckon that he would sign in a flash. But the media seems to think he’s a wanted player desperate to leave.

Vomit bag at the ready re Zachs response to this. I reckon I know what cards he’ll play, and likely tuning his violin already.

I know. I’m just trying to summon up the karma gods.

No stress. Reality is it has to come down to long term actions of change. I get its just one day of tough talk. LONG way to go

but its a start.

If Zach does media he’ll say he signed on and the club sold him in the direction they’d head in. They didn’t fulfill their end of the bargain.
