#8 Ben Hobbs

Tsatas is better offensively around the contest, Hobbs is better defensively, problem with Tsatas is that his kicking is still very much a work in progress so he cant make full use of his strengths yet.
If he could kick this wouldn’t even be a discussion.

I personally rate them both, but Tsatas has the higher ceiling.

Im not sure whos better, and dont care. The more midfield depth the better. I reckon DP3 is finished.

Huh? Didn’t he primarily play HF?

Or was this sarcasm?

Hobbs, Parish, Caldwell and Tsatas all seem best suited to a spot in the middle but aren’t versatile enough to all warrant a spot in the side at the same time.

At least one of them is probably surplus to list needs…

He has been playing a lot more midfield these past 2 games

Dees are tanking for us.

I’m intrigued by this. This assumption is based on Tratas suddenly becoming a decent kick. Something I have never seen happen….no, Watson was never a bad kick, just had a poor kicking season.

You know Tsatas has other attributes other than kicking.
He’s very quick around stoppage and seems to understand where he needs to be.
He’s got lightning hands and is clean.

He has tools to work with whilst he continues to improve his footskills.

Can’t wait to see Hobbs play in a wet, rain effected match.

You need cats like Ben when winter comes. We haven’t had enough of them over the past 20 years.

Can’t kick. Pick 5 and can’t kick. Don’t give a ■■■■ about his other attributes if he can’t kick.

Parish might have the dreaded Deledio-Bennell calf syndrome. I hope not.

Meantime, we have a couple of useful young mids doing well.

Kicking aside he has attributes that’s the others don’t and he is a clearance machine

Clearance doesn’t win games, we dominated clearance against the Hawks and lost by 26 points. Kicking is the thing that wins games these days.

Rather than kicking ball movement.

Really because every game bar our game over the weekend was won by the team that won clearance.
Five of the games played were won by the better disposal team the other two were equal on efficiency and west coast won the disposal efficiency.
It’s a mixture of a lot factors but winning the ball starts all that

Fine.
It’s a narrow minded view.
Plenty of players have been persisted with and repaid later on.

Also…you were questioning Massimo’s kicking when he was with us, so forgive us for not taking all your opinions seriously.

Hobbs will be EFC’s next captain

Thats actually an interesting assumption and valid discussion, considering Merrett stays and plays on to 34 plus, we would be looking at a new captain in 5 years, others that may fit the model would be Durham perhaps

Caldwell could fly the flag in a few years

Hobbs seems to have rediscovered a bit of confidence, and faith in his strengths.
