Please someone take him so Scott stops playing him.

Club who think they are still in the window should come for him… Dees, Pies could use some midfield reinforcements

Highly doubt he would want to move interstate, but if was Adelaide I’d be very interested.

Great. Another year of shiel taking up valuable development time from a youngster. Just what we need. Club should have jettisoned him for a packet of chips last year.

We tried, Nobody wanted him.

We would have been asking for too much.

Fair chance that’s correct.

I was actually pretty happy with how Shiel was managed this year, and with his performance when he came back into the AFL side.

That’s a fair shift from me given that I have generally lamented his selfish, and largely useless, style of football.

Would you be happy with him starting round 1 2025 over Tsatas?

Nah, we need to play Tsatas and reward his VfL form and work he has been doing on his game. Shiel has looked good when playing recently but time to push out, get a 3rd rounder someone will want him.

IIRC Saints were keen but had cold feet after Shiel’s medical testing.

I agree. He isn’t the long term answer but he is stronger over the ball than any of our other midfielders. The amount of times he was under intense pressure but still got the ball to a teammate was impressive. He got us going at least a couple of times in games.

I hate seeing our midfielders rag-dolled and unable to stick a tackle of which Merrett, Parish, Caldwell and Durham are all guilty at times. Dyl has a pretty strong core.

Unfortunately, how to fit all these B grade midfielders in the same side is the problem.

Shiel at 31 is a clearance leader.
When Tsatas needs a break, Shiel can keep clearances swinging our way, and can hit targets at will.

Merrett, Parish and Shiel will be our main center square players if they have good pre seasons.

Love that, we’re back baby!!

So Saints rejected Shiel oh no wont some one think of the draft picks!

Don’t worry Nino, we will get some “competitive” wins and finish right in your happy place of 9th to 13th in 2025 - no risk of us changing gears under Brad.

Nope I recon Shiel had a strong finish to the season looks fit desrves to to see out his final year

Our midfield always looks unbalanced when he plays

But he is old and and doesn’t help out in defence. Brad loves that type
