Yup. It’s disgusting.
Still think he wont get another contract
I think at the very least the club hasn’t made a call one way or the other just yet.
If he wasn’t going to play on in any circumstances, there is no way he gets games ahead of tsatas.
Shiel and the club probably waiting to see how the year plays out if there is a parting of the ways it will be mutual
Remember round 24 last year?
We wheel our Weideman for his first and only game of the year (as a defender no less) instead of debuting Hayes.
Brad doesn’t let logic get in the way of his selection policies.
One of his better attributes, and keeps the ball moving forward which the filth did more often than Essendon.
Of course they had more players prepared and capable of taking the game on.
Hopefully Dyl gets up this week.
Dyl’s in big trouble tonight getting Tsatas dropped.
Iam probably Tsatas biggest fan and have defended him fully, iam very annoyed he was dropped but if Shiel has a solid impact and has 25 touches and at least 5 clearances then fair enough it was a good call selection wise if he doesn’t then it was a dog ■■■■ selection.
Not a great long term selection move though
I’m good Shiel is back in. Hugely experienced, been playing well, rested, knows the gig in there and can drop to a flank too. The case for Elijah having an extended run when some of the cream of our engine room performing better then him are asked to stand aside … just because, just isn’t there. ETs time will come though.
A midfield of Calders, Zach, Durham, Setterfield, Shiel with cameos from Hobbsy, Martin and Perko is a pretty powerful engine room for mine. Good luck with that Swannies
9 more games to 100 games for EFC. 8 after this week.
Now I get it
Dylan “The Future” Shiel
Nailed it, we get hammered for not thinking of the long term but this is ultra long term thinking
What if he passes his kicking genes down to his kids?
Then they can be told to handball.
His daughter is a good tackler, caused a significant knee injury to him if I recall.
On what basis can he be dropped to a flank?
He was a disaster there early this year.
He is a 32 year old one trick midfielder, who cannot kick and doesn’t like physical contact or to defend.
But in true Essendon fashion, we must play him over Tsatas because the slight improvement chances of winning now and never thinking long term are all that matter.
Forward flank where a few of the mids are cycling through more this season. Shiel has his flaws but been consistently decent this season. His numbers show that.
Its a bit stacked our mids and Tsatas has things to work on, so it’s VFL for him now. Anything can happen that’d see him back in the 1s soon though. He has time on his side to get his overall game and fitness so Scott gives him the block he then can’t deny … and it works for the team.
Shiel sub… do we still freak out?
That’s terrific news on several fronts.
