#9 Dylan Shiel be right, mate - from July 2022

I think it depends what the think of him off field and if he’s willing to buy in to leadership in the VFL.

He still needs 7 games, I think we will nurse him to 100 efc games.
He’s better than say pick 40 in the rookie draft.

If this draft is rumoured weak, doubt we load up late at the draft.

Goldy is the one I hope we move on.

Imagine we have 6 picks , guys likely on the way out
Cox (ret)
Lual (Del)
Davey (del :crying_cat_face: )
Goldy (ret)
Menzie (Del)
Setterfield (Wait for contract spots)
Shiel (wait for contract)
Prior (Del) (wait for contract spots) (May target half back free agent)
Laverde (Del) (maybe keep for depth with Hayes injury)

Then you have Draper and Bryan and Hobbs and Tsatas who could all look for a trade/FA move.

Likely only 6 list changes.
Bring in
Reid
Ugle-Hagan
Starcevich
Sweid
El_Achkar
Draftee

Then you also potenitally have a couple of MSD guys to fit in as well possibly.

A mostly evocative post. While l can’t agree with most of it, no matter how much l find appealing in it, l do agree with the above point. Get Dyl to 100 games, then reassess. Most likely this will be his last season as we have seen him transition to fringe selection.

Surely we can squeeze him into the sub role seven times this year

We can and don’t call me Shirley!

Me too, we will likely only take 3-4 main list picks and they would want to keep a senior body around in case of emergency and to help on field in the VFL.

Last week’s result had nothing to do with him.
He walked into a fishnchip shop.

GWS midfeild was stacked wasnt room for Shiel

Fans have short memories we were celebrating and giving it Carlton when he picked us

Yeah we were celebrating. Then he started playing for us…

If this is how a experienced player shows intent to fight back into AFL team then he should never be selected again

Dyl has been great tonight in the VFL. Mature body showing decent decision making.

Didn’t miss a target and 2 great set shot goals from distance.
I’d give Zac a rest this week and send Dyls to Fremantle.

You’d give our best player and captain a rest, a week before the bye, to bring Dylan Shiel in?

Okay.

I’d bring Elija in too.

Good on him, he can stay in the VFL for the rest of the year

With Shiel coming off the emergency list is he another one we managed to break over the bye? We have found our strength

It’s about time we were good at something. Go us…

They were happy for him to go, the stacked midfield needed adjusting and they always offload the worst disposers of the footy.

Go look at Shiels in his last game which was a final, out of the backline nobody around him straight to the opposition in space multiple times. He was always a butcher, they knew it and were happy to push him out. What’s concerning is it was so obvious and we went hard for him knowing this.

No, what’s concerning is that we didn’t know it.

Just like we didn’t know Mark Williams’s knee was cooked when the entire first world did

Just like we didn’t know tsatas was a butcher

Etc

I also know that Giants thought Devon Smiths knee was cooked and that’s why he was traded relatively cheaply
