#9 Dylan Shiel be right, mate - from July 2022

It wasn’t two first round picks

That wasn’t a secret either

We can’t have been that incompetent.

Hubris to think we can fix it or we know better, yes, but to not know, that’s a level of incompetence that I struggle to understand.

I guess we will never know.

Look at our list. Disco had no idea what good kicking looked like. None

Assume Shiel is RIP given he hasn’t played VFL today. Another bye injury.

I assume he was just the left over emergency given both teams played at essentially the same time

But he was taken off the emergency list. So we would have paid a fine if he was a late in. Not sure even Essington would be that incompetent.

Had back tightness apparently according to Scott’s presser

I wonder how deep shiel is in the dog house if he can’t get a game now :man_shrugging:

Gotta give him credit he is working hard in the ressies and showing some leadership.
Telling guys where to go and chasing. Doesn’t look to be phoning it in.

That’s about all we can ask at this point.

Seven games from the 100 games for Essendon seven games left in the year with a full blown injury crisis may aswell limp him to it

To be fair to Disco, he walked away from negotiations at a certain price.

The footy manager at the time, Richardson (?), agreed to the upped deal.

It’s never as simple as being one person’s fault, at Essendon. We don’t believe in proper responsibility.

I’m fine with Shiel getting a game at this point given the injury situation provided TOG for Tsatas etc is prioritised.

But why do people care if he gets to 100? He doesn’t even have a son! And if he did, and that son happened to be good at football, I’m not sure he’d be falling over himself to play for Essendon given his dad’s experience.

It’s more symbolic if anything

I think X had a very big say on Shiel if that’s who you’re talking about

Not what was reported but perhaps.

The point is the list manager walked away. Then it happened anyway. That’s the problem. Not so much who.

More accurately, that was the problem.

Good to hear he is doing well in the VFL. He can stay there

No, we have to play him and give him another season if necessary.

Too many of our players are out for most of 2026 and we should not waste picks on experienced players when he is already on the list.

Its almost certain some of the remaining experienced players are injured before end of season and will be during the first half of 2026.

Its no time to try and justify opinions arrived at before the injury shitstorm happened. This changes almost every preconceived idea we had.

Bah gawd thats dylan Shiels music
