Every employer sells their organisation, it’s up to the person going to the organisation to make an informed choice.
I’d be surprised if this was an attitude thing for Shiel, he may have been open to a trade but he never made any public declarations and it seemed like Essendon were doing what they could to make it work but ultimately st kilda wanted him for next to nothing.

Because when you’re over 30, missed chunks of time with injury, and failed to pass a medical to be traded, the way to secure a new contract elsewhere is pretend to be injured even more than you already are?
He’d need to play as many games as possible this year if he wants another contract. With us, or anyone else.

He came because we hooked him up with a property development career post retirement. Why would he say no to that. It was never about our demographic or success. It’s just money. Always was.

What does that look like, in practical terms?
VFL needed him on the weekend.

I have zero doubt his heart is in it anymore, probably hasn’t been for the best part of 24 month’s tbh. Sad, its a talent that got no where near its full potential.
