Griffen is retired, Deledio’s calves are shot, Shaw is starting to show his age.
IMO if they make finals next year they finish 7th or 8th at best. Can definitely see us, Roos, Crows, Port potentially going past them.
yep and therein lies the rub. You could get 2 stars or you can also get a hell of a lot less. At times it is best to go with what you know. Especially if it’s to address a specific need. Which he will. I think it’s evens.
A successful club has to excel at developing players and at spotting talent from the lower picks.

Not sure I like the way Jackets goes about it, our deals always seem to be the ones that cause the most angst and go right to the wire, hence the reason why our reputation in the AFL in terms of trades is what it is, but I’m rapt we got our man for what I think is a fair price in the end. We needed a player of this type, a real game breaking, pack busting mid who can win it inside and outside. Perfect age at 25 (26 before Round 1 2019), he will still have enough footy left to play 150 games for us. Alongside the return to fitness of Joe and Fantasia, Shiel’s addition can take us into the top four and for the first time in 18 years, put us back into the premiership conversation.

Damn I hate to say this but Shiel reminds me a lot like Judd with his great lateral movement and strength and also the shoulders. Top get, but now the hard work begins for the rest of the team.
