Unbelieveable. In the interview Barrett just actually put words in Shielâs mouth - âyou were having second thoughts todayâ - not even phrased as a question.

I like how Shiel shut Barrett down about the rumour of him reconsidering Carltonâs offer like it was bullshit but in a subtle way. Clearly a professional, Cornes asked him about the flight to Noosa and other clubsâ pitch, he said heâs rather not comment on it except for that he wanted to join Essendon and was grateful for GWSâ cooperation.

Basically said he left it up to his managers and he tried to stay away from all the riff raff of today. Not really denying it but tbh if i were him in the same situation id go to Carlton too if the deal with Essendon couldnât get done rather than go back to the giants, remember they were offering him $1m+. Super stoaked we got him though and he looked absolutely rapped in the interview to be a bomber.
