Pretty standard stuff.
- Was a tough decision to leave GWS and ultimately came down to either Ess or farkcarlton
- Barrett pushing the angle that fark were still in the frame late, Shiel played a straight bat and suggested he stayed out of things and let his managers work on getting something done (didnt confirm or deny anything)
- didnt want to talk about the pitches from the various clubs
- Ultimately came down to a âfootball decisionâ, timing ws right in that he was ready to move and Ess the best fit
- Seems to be a fan of X, and suggested he was a big part of getting it done
- Looking forward to âworkingâ with Heppel, Smith, Stringer
- Very happy with the leadership off field - mentioned X and Dodoro again

Probably unlikely any will be better than Shiel, so this is a great grab. Not a last ditch top-up before a rebuild, but adding a genuine star to an emerging yet mature lineup.
Agreed. Definatly thought this early on in his career aswell. Just the way he moves and gets the ball and breaks packs.
Who fkg cares? Heâs ours now. If he was happy to play for Carlton he was stupid not to take the extra 300k PA and play for them.
