Robey can handle himself fine in the middle, in fact he’s our best player in the middle, so not playing him their is quite stupid really.
It’s not about “handling himself” JimmyT. Yes, he can handle himself just fine.
It is about an 18yo, who spent his only preseason rehabbing a stress fracture in his back, not yet having the conditioning to spend more time in there without a high likelihood of that leading to injury.
It is a smart S&C based decision, not a dumb coach decision. He will spend more time in the middle, but it will be a slow build. Be patient.
this guy is the Messiah. he’s going to be at least as good as Harley reid if not better , hopefully minus ■■■■ bloke attitude.
we just need a ruckman more than any other type of player asap
Ive said it a few times now i think, but he really is going to be our dustin martin in the future. Hes so fkn good
I saw a stat a while ago, not sure if it’s on here, but his clearances per game is on a par with most of our other midfielders, yet he’s doing so with half the amount of CBAs. On a pro-rata basis he is head and shoulders above anyone else.
nekk minnit
Caddy playing as an inside midfielder for the last quarter. FFS
I think the running loads are the biggest concern. The last thing we want is an OP situation.
Yep. Has the power and the strength, but also the time and the poise. Has some elements of Jobe, with a stronger athletic profile. Pretty exciting.
Will be the best player to come through this club since Jimmy.
I don’t mind that. It’s a long day at full forward for Essendon.
I’m so bloody glad they picked in when the opportunity arose.
Give him a big contract asap.
We likely have not had a prospect of this mold since Jobe Watson. That is precisely why we should bring in Voss to mentor Robey and Sharp. Robey is already exceptional at ground level, presents a massive aerial threat, and possesses impressive physical power for an 18-year-old.
He is the future.
I couldn’t agree more
Oh c’mon! It’s his first season and he had no preseason.
End of last season, Angus Clarke told radio station he was wilting by seasons end with groin soreness.
You have to look after the young kids loads, even if you think they are Superman.
If they got a load injury from being flogged in the middle for most of each weeks games you’d never forgive them. Worth keeping that in mind and being pragmatic about how we manage these younger players.
Very good point
We’re protecting him from himself.
Seriously though he’s one of the only reasons I’ll keep going to the footy this year.
Cue Harry Jones headless chook comments ![]()
Nah that’s fair, I just think it’s the wrong way around, I’d rather him start the game in the middle when the contest is on, truly cos I feel with him and Durham they are our best player in the middle.
