Hird couldn’t talk Houli into staying. This was before the club became a real basket case.

As long as Hird talks more than Brad to the players it will be a improvement.
Swagger can force all of Parish, Langford, Merrett and Ridley to stay if he wants.
But it won’t be the right move.
Only hope is Bartel is footy manager is ruthless in trying to move them on and improve our draft hand.
Plus also bring in some stronger leaders.

I saw an interview with Houli once where he said he had already agreed to go to Richmond before Hird was appointed; but met with Hird out of respect.

Mark Harvey in 1992 agreed to go to North, but then changed his mind. Houli could have changed his mind, but didn’t…Lucky for him!
I recall Harvey was great mates with Peter German at the time.
Conditioning does not equal how far someone can run.

Definitely some chatter, mostly in regards to Grlj rather than Cumming.
