I’d heard that when he left The Age for The Australian, his Age colleagues, who thought he was a grade A bellend set him up with a Ricky Mott-style story, and he fell flat on his face.
He had a reputation for getting gossip over a convivial beverage or seven.
I’d already heard stories from guys who played against him at District Cricket level when he played for Prahran. Under today’s rules, he’d have been removed from the attack after two of his special beamers, one if it was considered deliberate.

I put SEN on in the car on Saturday afternoon and it was just some drunken yobbos screaming at horses they had backed that I am assuming they were watching on tv. Was not overly entertaining.
