Interesting hearing Kane Cornes review of Essendon, this should probably be in the lid off thread. Definetly rose coloured glasses.

Shades of Hawthorn, why

  • Don’t expect to make finals this year, but all in on Essendon next 2-3 years
  • love the stability of Coach and Captain locked in
  • Elite key forward in Caddy athletic freak
  • Elite small forward - Kako not yet but will be
  • 2 midfield Bulls in Durham and Caldwell
  • Reid 205cm intercept defender
  • Draft capital, salary cap room
  • Age demographics of list is 4th youngest
    Beaten
  • Prelim finalist last year Port Adealide
  • Grand finalise last year Sydney Swans

Would be an exciting team to join from another club weighing up a big contract offer.

Kane Cornes is an oxygen thief who in a just world would be begging for spare change at a bus stop rather than polluting the airwaves with his drivel, and this remains the case even when he’s saying stuff that I want to be true.

Kane is brilliant. Seen a market for triggering people by telling it how it is regardless of who it upsets and is making a killing from it.

I think it’s important to differentiate between negativity towards Essendon and thinking Kane Cornes is a flog no matter what words he pukes up.

He is, however, excellent at what he does. Which is ■■■■ people off (by design)

Nothing wrong with the team getting some credit for what they are doing well it’s a breath of fresh rather then always reading or hearing how bad Essendon is

North Melbourne drew with the premiers and West coast had them for a while. I think there are shades of hawthorn in them too

He did say we won’t make finals this year.
Roberts will be top 5 in rising star. likely make 22 under 22 team along with Kako and Caddy.

Maybe Hobbs too, but heaps of mids.

I don’t really like or dislike the guy, but you are right when you say he’s making a killing, he’s definitely a smart guy.

No different from the other 25,000 occasions where he’s opined one thing at some point, and then stridently argued a diametrically opposing viewpoint a few weeks later. This would just be more of the same.

It’s his whole M.O. It’s a goldfish industry and he rarely gets picked up on it. The only thing he’s never deviated from is his belief that long-term contracts are no good (unless it’s for Horne-Francis).
