A little crispy one Garry - The footy media thread

640 goals as a small forward is very impressive and worthy of inclusion.

Let alone the entertainment value.

Pavlich, Goodes, Riccuito unlucky…Cox high for a ruck.
Brad Johnson very lucky to be there.

Good shout on Goodes. He should definitely be in there. Two brownlows in different positions.

Really?

I dislike Brad Johnson as much as anyone but his numbers stack up. 558 goals including a bunch of years (2002-2009) where he was averaging about 20 disposals and 2 goals per game.

They are seriously elite numbers. I get why Lloyd included him.

Yeah, strange call.

Simon Black, Dane Swan, Matthew Pavlich, Shaun Burgoyne, Adam Goodes, Barry Hall, Robert Harvey and Scott West are all ahead of Brad Johnson.

Also, Dustin Martin doesn’t qualify. Debuted in 2010. Lloyd retired in 2009.

Garbage list, really.

EDIT - Wait a minute. Bont debuted 5 years after Lloydy retired. What does Lloyd mean by ‘time in the game?’

Forwards are always going to rate other forwards high, as they watch them closely and appreciated the things that they do. Just as a mid would have a different lens and produce a different list with less forwards in it.

Kane supporting Essendon felt dirty… but he was our Dirty Kane… turned out he cursed us & we didn’t actually Essenton ourselves.

Some bloke walks out of the pub and trips over onto the footpath. Thugs gather around and stick the boot in until he is senseless on the ground.

Essendon is that poor bloke. The thugs are the footy media.

Except people get sick of Essendon stories and clicks are dwindling.

Enter Bailey Smith the blond bombshell. So according to a recent article Smith is single handedly destroying the legendary Geelong culture with social media posts. As of this day, not one AFL player is LGBTIQ+. But apparently Smith is sowing seeds of doubt.

If you ever had any doubt the AFL media snorts clicks for pleasure, just read that BS article.

I don’t totally hate CORN like some do but gee you’ve got to laugh especially at the last line in this article.

A year ago he’s cackling away each week on the Channel 9 Sunday Footy Show Panel after Nathan Brown’s Media-Ocre segment airs and joining in on the ribbing and now he reckons it’s stupid cos they’ve had him in the gun a couple of times lol

Cornes fired up over ‘gotcha’ tactics from SEN colleagues

Kane Cornes’ early-season opinion on Collingwood has led to an on-air row, with Cornes accusing his colleagues of throwing him ‘under a big, fat bus.’

Kane Cornes has lashed out at colleagues on his radio station saying “we’re supposed to be a team in here” rather than throwing each other “under a big fat bus”.

The polarising commentator took a moment out of Trade Radio talk to respond to SEN’s The Run Home program doing a segment mocking his opinion from the start of the season that Collingwood looked too old, slow, underprepared and unfit.

Cornes and Sam Edmund played Tuesday’s clip on their show Thursday morning.

“I reckon (the comments) it aged pretty well,’’ Cornes said.

“If you’re going to do a gotcha segment and if you’re going to pull out audio and receipts from people that actually have opinions and don’t sit on the fence and in the end it ages exceptionally well … and Nick Daicos actually agreed with that opinion that perhaps he wasn’t as well as prepared as he could be, at least make sure the receipts are correct.

“We’re supposed to be a team in here, now if you want to do a Nathan Brown Media-Ocre style gotcha media segment I would suggest you do it on people that don’t work in the same building as you. Or have some opinions yourself and let’s hold you to account at the back end of your opinions.”

Cornes was desperate to appear correct on Collingwood, saying “injuries did come back to bite them and they did crash out towards the back end of the season as much as they did make a prelim”.

He added: “Not sure it was the gotcha moment that they thought it would be and I’m just not sure we want to be throwing our own people under a big fat bus each and every week.”

Cornes said The Run Home did the same thing last week to his breakfast co-host David King.

Edmund pointed out that Julian de Stoop does “calm down fellas, not you got it wrong”, but Cornes was fired up.

He also delivered a further drive-by to Nathan Brown’s segment.

“If you want to sit on the fence and have no one question anything that you ever say, go and listen to Julian de Stoop,’’ he said.

“If you want to have an opinion and put yourself at risk of being made to look foolish then have an opinion. Each to their own, but not sure we want to be chucking each other under a bus.

“They did it to Kingy the week before. I’m like hang on, what are they stitching up Kingy for, he works here? It’s not Nathan Brown with that stupid stuff he does on Channel 9, it’s actually SEN.”

Meh.

The sooner the AFL media (and broader sports media) stop trying to make themselves the story, the better.

My only issue with Cornes is that his head looks disproportionally large. Too large for his body.

People really need to stop taking what Cornes says seriously. He’s been open in saying he styled himself from Seppo shock jocks, I doubt he believes half the ■■■■ he spews

Didn’t he celebrate the receipts he kept for saying Adelaide’s 3 tall fwd line wouldn’t stand up in finals? You win some you lose some mate.

Yep he was talking that up today about how he nailed that one

His argument is poorly thought out though because Hawthorn who beat the Crows played a taller forward line in Lewis, Chol and Gunston vs Thilthorpe, Fogarty and Walker.

“Calm down fellas” is a funny segment.

He should have used this one though

Ysah what was all that about. It was supposed to be just a fun game?

I guess it wasn’t that funny. Bit like Hughesy himself, really

Ironically this is the funniest thing Dave Hughes has ever been involved in.

Hopefully ppl can stop wanking over Dermott Brereton playing a game with broken ribs, given a 53 year old vegan comedian did the same?
