On the news, Cumberland River campground had flooded and looked like St George River as well.

Would’ve made some spectacular waterfall viewing out the back.

They might need to put monitored water level gauges upstream along there, especially where there are campgrounds.

Lucky the event didn’t happen during the night.

Crap, I didn’t even think about that. Could have been disastrous.

Rain event has shifted north now.

Some parts of Sydney’s northern beaches have received over 200mm in the last 4-5 hours… and still raining.

Other suburbs have received totals of 40-50mm since 9am.

Yep, it’s been pretty wild today. We’ve had the odd mildly wet day, but this system has been the first really big one since September in my neck of the woods (inner-west).

Camp Mystic comes to mind.

Are we allowed to talk about the lack of rain in this thread?

Yes in fact on the day that it rained profusely in Wye River I was doing some paving in Geelong where it rained so lightly and for such a short period that it didn’t bother me enough to stop doing the said paving. Accordingly the paving is complete.

Melbourne has only received 1.6mm of rain so far this year (22 days) and no rainfall expected in the next 8-9 days at least.

On track to be the third driest January since 1855, after 1932 (0.3mm) and 2009 (1.0mm).

Can’t like.

And can’t you tell…

There is a lake near us that I walk the dog around. When I say lake, it’s basically the slow-draining collected run-off from the gutters and drains. The inlet end of it is more or less a dried mud plain now and you could walk across it if you so desired.

Haven’t seen it that dry in 20-odd years of living here.

This looks like fun (Melbourne):

I wouldn’t get too excited. Only ECMWF is going with this for now.
The American and Canadians show no such thing.
Such is the nature of tropical troughs, their timing and placement can be very difficult to predict.

Like Trump, you have great disrespect for Norwegians.

We have light rain in Cranbourne South. Radar doesn’t look promising though.

And it’s stopped.
