Was it just me, or was there a fake chant right before the bounce? And then that god awful music before every bounce (it's a great don't, but why)?It’s utter bullshit that we have to put up with it. Is it the club, the league or the MCG that decides on this stuff.
Wasn’t just you. It’s audio of the “We Are Essendon” chant. Think it’s an attempt to get the crowd fired up. Agree on the post goal music. Didn’t allow the usual “ESDON clap clap clap” chants when we were up and about in the third quarter. As plain and unoriginal as the chant is I love doing it when we’re playing good footy.
That said the festivities around the top up players and the #thankyoudons initiative were first class and very respectable. Very proud.

Would love to see all Essendon members and supporters sing a song before the game. Like Port Adelaide's "Never Tear Us Apart". One of the songs that Melbourne Victory sing before home games is "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King. I was thinking we could change the words a little bit and sing:

Can anyone exlpain to me why the Essendon chant became 2 syllables then 3 claps? I’m sure it used to be a clear 3 syllables followed by bashing 3 times on the old around the ground signage.
This was a great and simple and powerful rhythmic chant which the whole ground could join in (using the 3 claps). ESS-EN-DON CLAP-CLAP-CLAP. Slower, more deliberate and more powerful than the current version.
Es’don then 3 claps feels arrhythmic and unconducive to powerful participation by all the supporters. It just peters out because of its rapidity and incoherent rhythm.
