What the club needs to do is somehow turn a little sucker like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iRxOIzKYD0) into one that isn't cranked and instead can work by holding it in one hand and spinning it around. After a goal thousands of little sirens being spun around could combine to make a cool effect.

Serious question - have you been to an Essendon game in the last 10 years? Have our efforts been for nought?
There is already a group of supporters who are referred to as the grog squad although its not really a bunch of drunks more just a fluid group with some mainstays who have chants for most players & situations. Many of the same chants you here at the soccer are changed to suit AFL & you will find people crossing both sports & transferring ideas. The "We are Essendon" was very much a "grog squaders" brainchild & its nearly always the GS that get the chant going. Its what the cheer squad used to be like before they pushed out the blokes with loud voices in favour of old women who want a good seat.
Feel free to come stand up the back & join in the fun. There's no badges, joining fees or rights of passage just a group of diehard fans most of which are there every week through thick & thin. For maximum experience I recommend Carlton games. We seriously fark with their supporters' heads & its usually when we seem to have the most voice.
I agree with your sentiments about the cheersquad if not your words. It does seem like the cheersquad is made up of older women and young children who are just too ■■■■■■ tame. They are definately not following the tradition of wild, noisy and colourful larrikinism of bomber cheersquads of past eras.
Grog squad rule at yelling abuse. Cheersquad probably cry just thinking about it.
Would love to see all Essendon members and supporters sing a song before the game. Like Port Adelaide's "Never Tear Us Apart". One of the songs that Melbourne Victory sing before home games is "Stand by Me" by Ben E. King. I was thinking we could change the words a little bit and sing:

Im convinced in order to join them you need a record and a nice pen, so you can mark down who kicks goals etc.

lol the CS struggle to get the 'We Are Essendon' chant in sync with everyone else.
Way too many rhythmically challenged individuals in the cheer squad to get the 'We are Essendon' Chant working.
