Adrian Dodoro - Flankers into Mids since 2000 (Part 2)

Yeah it’s likely this way of saying thinking that has kept Dodoro in his job to date.

“What if the Saga players never left across 2015 and 2016?”

“What if Daniher, Saad and Fantasia didn’t leave in 2020?”

Well Sydney lost Dawson, Hewett and Aliir in the space of a year and yet made the granny

I wouldn’t be against Dodoro getting onto the board, but not a swifty someone exits get him on, he would need to be voted on. He is clearly vested in the efc. But having someone else in control with the list may bring further benefits to the EFC, he has had long enough, fresh set of eyes, and fresh person working on trades.

Should Dodoro Stay on as list manager next year

If 3 quality senior players walk out and you are bringing in kids in their place it sets you back

As it did with Daniher, Saad and McKenna

List builds and where you at as a club is def going to be affected by such.

One player not so much, but if Parish left and we took an 18yr old draftee only it def impacts

Like I said above, it’s funny how Sydney can lose Dawson, Aliir and Hewett and still be top 4 and make a grand final

Did losing any of these three actually set us back though?
I would argue we have very quickly replaced each of those players.

Hind> Saad
2MP > JD
McGrath>McKenna

The loss of Daniher didn’t set us back - more that the loss of Daniher was the loss of a potential gain (if that makes sense). Daniher hasn’t played for the previous 3 years. We “lost” him in 2018. Same for Fantasia.

Saad was definitely a loss, but I would rather pick 8 + Hind than Saad

I understand, we lost Daniher’s potential. However, despite his last two good games, what has he actually done while at Brisbane? 2MP has been more than a worthy replacement for him.
I am hoping we can develop a system that relies less on individual brilliance and more on players fitting a role.

The 18 year old will not replace Parish.

The players who are already on the list will replace Parish. That’s the point of having a balanced list, so regardless of injuries or trade requests…… our whole list can cover them.

One trade/draft period should not be the ‘be all, end all’ to sustainable success.

If I recall correctly, the Dorks lost Franklin, still won a flag. Cats lost Ablett, still won a flag.

Joe daniher is an absolute seagull. He gets an absolutely huge amount of joe the goose goals because he is too lazy to press up the ground and apply pressure. He seldom takes games by the scruff of the neck or is actually consequential in any of the matches, but hes often just through happenstance the last person in a scoring chain.

We haven’t missed Daniher…but what we missed was two first round picks for him.

Yeah agree.

I guess a good question to ponder is would we have chased Wright if Daniher decided to stay. I would say we likely would have, which means we should probably compare Daniher to Jones

Daniher is clearly an improvement on Jones. But all Daniher (and Saad) would have done would have kept us in mid table mediocrity. Maybe we would have won 2/3 more games if we had Daniher and Saad last year, which meant we never sacked Rutten. Who knows

Pains me to read that. How arrogant were we? FFS.

That’s just bizarre as a statement. How the crap would they know how far away or how close we are? They don’t have crystal balls to see the future and how things work out.

Jones is still super inexperienced and needs time and patience. What I would say, is that Jones is actually working hard defensively and makes more of an effort than I recall Daniher did while playing for us. I also rate Jones as a better set shot than Joe, which doesn’t say much for either player.

We literally thought we were close to contending so we were demanding mature players rather than picks for Daniher FFS

That’s after the embarrassing Western Bulldogs loss at the end of 2019

Look at the club at the top of the ladder, they have the biggest injury list In the comp.

Systems over Individuals.

Just stop with the excuses regarding individual players.

Another bizarre statement. What the hell would your brother know from a 5 second drive by few words?

I kind of understood the club’s thinking they could make him fall in love with the club again and all that bollocks, but once his heart wasn’t in it, why bother? Should have moved him onto Sydney and ran away with their offer as fast as possible.
