I wouldn’t be against Dodoro getting onto the board, but not a swifty someone exits get him on, he would need to be voted on. He is clearly vested in the efc. But having someone else in control with the list may bring further benefits to the EFC, he has had long enough, fresh set of eyes, and fresh person working on trades.
The loss of Daniher didn’t set us back - more that the loss of Daniher was the loss of a potential gain (if that makes sense). Daniher hasn’t played for the previous 3 years. We “lost” him in 2018. Same for Fantasia.
Saad was definitely a loss, but I would rather pick 8 + Hind than Saad
I understand, we lost Daniher’s potential. However, despite his last two good games, what has he actually done while at Brisbane? 2MP has been more than a worthy replacement for him.
I am hoping we can develop a system that relies less on individual brilliance and more on players fitting a role.
The players who are already on the list will replace Parish. That’s the point of having a balanced list, so regardless of injuries or trade requests…… our whole list can cover them.
One trade/draft period should not be the ‘be all, end all’ to sustainable success.
Joe daniher is an absolute seagull. He gets an absolutely huge amount of joe the goose goals because he is too lazy to press up the ground and apply pressure. He seldom takes games by the scruff of the neck or is actually consequential in any of the matches, but hes often just through happenstance the last person in a scoring chain.
I guess a good question to ponder is would we have chased Wright if Daniher decided to stay. I would say we likely would have, which means we should probably compare Daniher to Jones
Daniher is clearly an improvement on Jones. But all Daniher (and Saad) would have done would have kept us in mid table mediocrity. Maybe we would have won 2/3 more games if we had Daniher and Saad last year, which meant we never sacked Rutten. Who knows
That’s just bizarre as a statement. How the crap would they know how far away or how close we are? They don’t have crystal balls to see the future and how things work out.
Jones is still super inexperienced and needs time and patience. What I would say, is that Jones is actually working hard defensively and makes more of an effort than I recall Daniher did while playing for us. I also rate Jones as a better set shot than Joe, which doesn’t say much for either player.
I kind of understood the club’s thinking they could make him fall in love with the club again and all that bollocks, but once his heart wasn’t in it, why bother? Should have moved him onto Sydney and ran away with their offer as fast as possible.
