Adrian Dodoro - Flankers into Mids since 2000 (Part 2)

The original comment is made in present tense, maybe go back a step.

I followed the thread so. The original comment from IC was in the past tense. Responses from that varied, but the original was the Curtis one

If we had drafted Philipou would we have still gone to drafting caddy the following year ? I’m not quite sure. Anyway still expecting to tsatas to have a big career

From a list management perspective I thought Humphrey, Ginbey and Phillipou addressed deficiencies more so than Tsatas.

Ceiling is much lower for a player that can’t kick v a power med forward who can.

We’ve all got a tendency to make calls too soon with young players. The vibe on here had written off a lot of players who ended up being our highest performers. Langford, Redman, Ridley, Wright, Laverde, BZT come to mind as players written off as recruitment failures.

Flip side, many of us probably went too soon on McGrath when he took out the rising star. Making big calls early is fraught with danger.

It’s not ideal for Tsatas to be going through a kicking action rebuild. But it is way too early to make a judgement on his career. Some young players perform early and plateau, some start slow and end up the higher performers later in their career.

From the amount of work the kid is putting in, I’ve no doubt that Tsatas will improve his kicking. Hopefully he can end up elite, but he won’t remain the liability he currently is for the rest of his career. And the rest of his attributes are really exciting.

Humphrey will be a superstar in 4 years.

Nah it will be the Cox, Reid, Perkins draft.

2 of them fail and it’s an absolute appalling result

It seems likely that Perkins and Reid will be successes atm and Cox clearly has talent just needs a position and some luck with his body.

Way too early to be making a call on Reid

I think we are genuinely no closer to knowing about any of the three than we were when we drafted them.

Perkins is probably tracking a bit below, if not right on expectations, but reid and cox have been so injury prone its impossible to make a call.

Reid been injured but Perkins and Cox will need to start showing what they are capable of

Hes clearly got the talent, the only thing thats going to stop him is more injuries and right now hes as healthy and fit as ever. Is it Dodoros fault if that changes?

Picks between 6-10 average 133 games and take 6 years to reach 50 games. Perkins in 3 years has already played 62 games and looks like he will easily reach 133 over his career.

A lot of people set there expectations too high for draft picks because the ones that dont work out are often forgettable.

Games played yes he has definitely met that goal. No question…its whether he can take his game to the level becoming of a top 10 pick. Signs are there, I’m more optimistic about Perkins than reid or Cox at this stage.

Whats that level?

Was his 8 coaches vote game against the hawks not that? Or do you expect it every week?

…. erm, I’d expect him to play around that level for multiple games per season.

3 players of Archies age group had more Coaches votes then him and only 5 polled more then once.
