AFL - Terrible Ideas, Too Many Ideas, No Idea…

Nope.
Top 6 are the only automatic spots now

I disagree with this view on wildcard, about 20 games that would usually be dead rubbers have had interest coz of it. Including most of Carlton’s back half of their season. I think it’s been a big success, the TV ratings also show this that people are more engaged coz the finals runs deeper with more potential teams making it. I’ll take about half a season of more games worth watching over a few ordinary ones in the last round.

Look, it’s only 150 odd years of tradition. Just move with the times, man.

Like pushing in the back, which was allowed at the start of the season.

Time for a top 16 finals series next year!

We would still miss out on a finals spot

Have quietly postponed the announcement of all Australian squad

I won’t say nothing that isn’t public knowledge but the swans putting 4 players in a hire car to drive from Melbourne to Sydney isn’t. Good look

A former professional footballer is suing the AFL and Fox Sports for more than $1.2 million over an incident in which “compromising footage” of him was aired on live television in 2013.

Ricky John Henderson, 37, was an Adelaide Football Club (AFC) player at the time of the incident, on April 6, 2013, in that season’s second round.

In court documents seen by the ABC, it is alleged that Mr Henderson was recorded in the change rooms of the Gabba at half-time as he “stepped away from the player group to adjust his shorts and undergarment, which involved pulling down his shorts and athletic support garment and exposing his genitals”.

The lawsuit has been lodged in South Australia’s District Court, with Mr Henderson claiming $1,213,867 in damages on the basis the incident was a breach of confidence, an invasion of privacy, and negligent.

You’d probably get less $ if your ■■■■■ was severed in a workplace accident.

I thought to myself “I don’t remember THAT happening, surely it was all over the media at the time?”

Then I see “round 2 2013,” and realise that absolfkglutely everybody’s attention was on a different footy media frenzy at the time.

This just smacks of someone struggling financially post footy career and trying to make a buck.

Never heard of him.

The footy world was in awe of our 100+ point win against Melbourne… right?

Pretty sure he was angry at the time and complained about it.
I’m pretty strong in my thoughts that media shouldn’t be filming in the rooms at the time or at least run some sort of delay or ability to delete footage before airing to public

I don’t think there is an issue with the cameras in the warm-up room (I think that’s what they are called), but I agree it should absolutely not be broadcast live to air.

Broadcasters should also be far more discerning with what they show, too. I absolutely hate when they cut to those cameras and you see an injured player walk through clearly distraught. We do not need to see that.

I don’t reckon any media should ever be in rooms before, during and after a game, except for watching the boys sing the song.

Surely this is going to end up Streisand effect

If more than 17 people remember seeing his chop in 2013, then id be very surprised - and i bet significantly more people are googling it furiously right now…

Rohan Connoly’s ESPN article about the AFL broadcast camera work is something l couldn’t agree more with. The constant swapping of angles and the disregard for the centre bounce has annoyed me all year.

Ricky Henderson played down here for South Warrnambool and Port Fairy in the pre-Covid years. Pretty sure he played for Port. Never whacked his chopper out at my coffee shop.

Have you checked the CCTV.
