Wasn't Aish underwhelming in the Norwood GF win? Wasn't there another player of his age who tore it up?

Trent Dumont, will go pick 8-12 mark.
Doesnt get noticed as much as Aish but to me is a far better player and will turn out to be a gun.
Decent build already and an in and under mid with good foot skills. Would take him over Aish in a heartbeat
ok so my question is how do we obtain a pick 8-12?
Bite the bullet and take pick 22 for Crameri is a good starting point. Then we need to find another club to get involved and send them the pick 22 plus Gumby/Jetta.
Obviously the only other way which id be loathe to do would be trading out Myers.
I honestly cant see us getting inside the top 20
Port have talked about trading out their pick 10 for Polec so obviously some clubs are open to trading out their first rounders.
But we have to give something to get something and to be honest I think we over rate our players a bit
Given your scenario involves shopping out at least 2, more likely 3-4 players...to get 1 kid in...I'll stick with that happy delusion thanks.
I can't recall a club EVER doing 2+ deals to hop up the order. To do so you're going to need 3-4 clubs, and players happy to move. Just won't happen, and going to cause a fair bit of damage along the way.

Indeed, given our missing picks we can take the last 3 picks in the draft after everyone else has packed up and gone home.

That's not going to improve our list

I think a lot of people are making a huge assumption - that the dogs are, in fact, offering 22. I wouldn’t be overly surprised if they wanna give us pick 93 and Simon Minton-Connell: they’ve got us by the balls, here. No reason to do us a favour at all, we can try and convince the AFL that the offer (which by now has been improved to pick 739 and Jose Romero’s younger sister) isn’t fair but they won’t help.

Eagerly awaiting another fun installment of “why are Essington so hard to trade with”.

What does Jose Romero’s younger sister look like?

I tried to make the same point earlier today. People on here say "just take pick 22 and get it done". But I don't think we have been offered pick 22.

So of the last 13 pick #12s, how many have been better than what you'd reasonably expect out of 5 years out of Crameri (I'm thinking 16 games, 30 goals per year over 5 years)?  5 if you count Jay Schulz! The rest have had worse careers than 5 years of Crameri's output.

Draft picks so overrated.

If you can get 12 out of Crameri, Gumbleton and Jetta good work (I assume that Gumby and Jetta won't add much at essendon anyway), but to trade out Myers to get to pick 12 makes no sense whatsoever.

Also note the number of clubs talking about trading _out_ their first rounders this year.  Compare that to years when clubs think the draft is strong.  Then go back and look at the drafts that clubs have thought are strong pre-draft to those that have been called weak pre-draft.  Clubs know what's going on in terms of draft depth.  If they're all cashing in their picks they think there's none (Richmond giving up 28 for hampson for instance).

What we need to do is minimise our exposure to a weak draft.  We're already looking at 4 outs if Crameri goes.  If we upgrade a rookie that means 3 draft picks.  We don't want to go much deeper than that, so if we're looking at trading anyone else (eg Jetta or Gumbleton), we should target a player that can make a difference to our side in the short term.

Getting into and out of the right drafts is critically important to teams success.  Our biggest mistake last decade was probably completely butchering the 2001 draft.  While other clubs grabbed go to midfielders (Judd, Ball, Swan, Bartel, Kelly, Hodge, Mitchell, Dal Santo etc etc) we got stuff all (apologies to Andrew Welsh).

We may get this draft right.  But everything points to it being unlikely that the bones of a premiership team over the next decade will come out of this draft, or at least out of anywhere other than the very top end.  Hence, I don't see much need to be pressing to try and get minor improvements on pick 22.

Anyway, sorry for getting off topic.  My point is, don't sell the farm to try and force our way up the draft order if it's only going to get us a David Trotter.  The key is to keep what we have, and keep developing.

What does Jose Romero's younger sister look like?

Do you like the Frida Kahlo look?

We just don't know. You'd hope there's some small amount of good will there, and I think it's not far off his value.
I'm hella worried the media are bandying it about so often, pointing out it's quite a reasonable starting point, only to completely change their position without blinking if/when it falls over - and it's revealed we actually knocked back pick 97 and Simon Garlick's old Cortina and aren't Essendon just jerks to deal with, even their supporters wanted this deal to go through, and as we reported all along.

CARLTON looms as a possible new home for Paul Chapman after they met for preliminary discussions on Monday.

The Blues are looking at a variety of recruitment options in an effort to revitalise a list that could only win three of 13 games against teams that finished above it on the home-and-away ladder (including Essendon).
Chapman, 31, wasn‘t offered a new contract by the Cats after 251 games between 2000-13, but firmly believes he has good football left in him.

"Any club that thinks they can contend next year would obviously be mad not to speak with 'Chappy'. He feels as if his body will allow him at least two good years," Pickering said.

When Chapman did play in eight matches for 2013 his statistics were outstanding, better in all areas than his career averages and that included two games where he was substitute.

The sticking point for a possible Chapman deal could come down to money with the Blues heavily committed after signing Dale Thomas from Collingwood.

But they have made it known they are willing to part with first-round draftees Josh Bootsma and Kane Lucas, plus ruckman-forward Levi Casboult, as part of the club‘s dramatic list overhaul.

At Geelong, Chapman‘s long-time teammate Joel Corey  is expected to retire.

But don‘t wait for any fanfare as Corey will leave the game as he played it — quietly.

The Blues have told rivals they are prepared to trade either of the pair if it helps secure coach Michael Malthouse some top-line midfield talent.

The move has surprised other clubs, given Carlton used their first selections in the 2009 and 2011 national drafts to select Lucas and Bootsma.

Carlton has also been linked to Shane Savage from Hawthorn.

Lucas, 22, had his best year this season, averaging 18 touches from 17 games, but he lost his place late in the campaign and missed out on finals.

Bootsma, 20, was played in a key defensive post at times this year but in his nine games in the backline did not take an intercept mark, according to Champion Data. The Blues this year re-signed Bootsma for two more years, until the end of 2015.

So Carlton are looking to trade basically their only half-decent key fwd for a player that they have enough of? Typical!

If they get Chapman, I'll be disgusted.

It's alright... they still have Hampson

Oh... waite... what?

Let Carlton take Chappy, it reeks of desperation, they are not even in their window.

Carlton will play a team of midfielders. Two talls drafted in 2010, Mitchell and McCarthy delisted, Hampson traded out. Casboult up for trade. The game must be evolving in a way I have yet to notice.

Those that have a clue would know and realise just how lucky we are to have one of the best in the business in Adrian Dodoro.
And now he has some good coaches at the club to develop the youngsters.

Bang on. Very highly regarded. Gws were keen on him.
We have drafted 1 player in the past decade or so that has gone on to become All Australian, and he was a fkn father son pick. Our trading has also been ordinary.
Would love to know why any person associated with the list management of the Essendon Football Club the past decade could be highly regarded. Fk me.
Riggght.. so your going to base a recruiters worth on what a committee of ex players and coaches think are a good side in a particular year?
Plenty of good players miss out and the system is based on who they think is the flavour of the month ala Hibberd and Carlisle missed out yet defenders who averaged less intercepts and disposals got in over them.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Crameri trade is delayed as long as possible.

The club would be trying to keep him.  The longer they delay, the longer he has to change his mind.  The delay might not have anything at all to do with what we will or won't accept in a trade.  As such the risk the Bulldogs run is that he stays a Bomber.

And given what a few on here have hinted, I wouldn't be surprised if the "money" aspect Dodoro has flagged is just the public reason that both parties have agreed would be provided to the media.  The real background reason (that may or may not exist... like how would I know) will likely remain in the background, as it should.

Apparently Dodoro appearing on trade radio this morning

Isn't Dumont that bloke with the dodgy hammy? Or is it stress fractures in his foot?

Run down please

Run down please

That's what everyone on here has been doing for the last 5 pages. Haven't you been paying attention?

Said bugger all above what's already been reported.
