I went through it many years ago and it was a self inflicted malaise , I did learn my lesson however. Thank God for Alexander Fleming !!
The anti doping code are draconian rules made up by over zealous politicians. It emphasize maximum punishment rather than fairness and justice as the case in most common law jurisdiction. The sad thing is that having draconian rules never looks like solving any problems but rather have the potential of destroying the lives of people like Saad who got caught up in innocuous incidents.
Even there is little chance that Ahmed Saad is actually a PED user, AD rules are AD rules. It doesn’t have to be fair or just. Feel very sorry for this kid.

15 months of chemo has farked the immune system just a tad. Oncologist reckons I'll probably be able tolerate alcohol again sometime after Xmas. Thank God for the herb.

Iast time I smoked dope was in Amsterdam, the weed was so strong, it had 4 of us in bed by midday unable to move until about 10am the next morning. Don't think I need a specialist to tell me I can't tolerate the green stuff. funny times though.

This will be a real show of the direction ASADA take with regards to if they get a say in the penalty. It seems it was an honest mistake, and he admitted pretty quickly what happened, if that was taken into account.
To be honest most footy fans would probably be ok if he gets a slap on the wrist. But I guess you never know, it could be the tip of the iceberg, or if someone is taking something non performance enhancing, but it’s technically a makin agent (hello Warney…) how will that be viewed.

Bloke I feel really sorry is the VFL bloke who got down a year or so ago for used the same kind of energy drink as Saad. Got 6 months as it was viewed as an honest mistake, ASADA appeals and he is gone for 2 years.
Struggle to feel massively sorry for Saad when this case had already played out and had been reported in the media, and at the time he took the offending substance the biggest shitstorm involving supplement use and possible PED use in the AFL was raging out of control.
Don't think he should cop a 2 year ban, but as far as I'm concerned what he did was far worse than anything any of our players might have done.
I’m really hoping this young man gets a penalty at the lower end of the scale. Intent should be taken into account. ASADA or WADA could possibly huff and puff if the penalty is low but it’s about time theses guys got their collective acts together and did something proactive rather than reactive.
Personally I’d like to see TGA laws changed so every supplement that contained a WADA banned drug had to say so in BIG RED LETTERS on the label…I think they do this in France.
There also needs to be more thought around the difference between performance enhancing and performance enabling.
