Yeah I’m not sure about vastly better… But a 1st and some steak knives might be enough to satisfy West Coast who could well just want to get it done and move on.
He is good at what he does (outside runner), but fundamentally I still have issue with a deal that size for a midfielder who 100% (actually more like ~70%) relies on his team mates winning the ball for him. For that sort of deal you should be getting a complete player. A bloke who can win his own ball AND get it on the outside and be damaging AND defend when you don’t have it. We’re talking Dusty/Danger/Kelly contract, nothwithstanding that these guys don’t lay a heap of tackles cause they’ve always got the footy.
Parker and Shiel are both better contested players and better when they don’t have the footy (superior tackle numbers). Looking at their numbers (score involvements/goal assists) for both career and this year their impact per possession is about the same. So I don’t subscribe to the theory that Gaff is much more influential at all.
All three have deficiencies, all three have big strengths, all three would compliment our current midfield mix and be very valuable contributors, none are worthy of 7yrs at the sort of money being talked about IMO.
Honestly, after the discussion last week I’d almost be more lid off on Wingard over the 3 of them.
From Twitter … EFC supporters aren’t the only ones losing their collective minds!
“Hard to tell with all these rumours but a Hawks fan just posted he saw them sitting down at a café on Glenferrie Road… I understand he is in town at the moment too… Hawks would be silly not to ask the question”
Was gonna say there’s literally no chance he’d be meeting with Clarko (or anyone else) in Melbourne 4 Days out from his team playing in a Prelim… even if he isn’t going to be participating.
Um ok. Not sure how relevant it is then for the Gaff thread! More an argument not to take Gaff if you really want Rozee.
That’s a possibility. But if we finish top 4-6 next year, then our 2019 first is a similar pick to their 2018 FA compo, but in a later draft that’s not as good. Now, they could also push for some of what we get back from Adelaide, or a second rounder, but is it worth the effort if the FA compo is the best pick of the lot?
