Looked good to be a Ridley replacement then does his acl what ■■■■ luck is that the footy gods hate us
I agree but just saying as yet would not be starting 22
People were upset at how badly we played, not that we won.
For you a win is a win and it doesn’t matter how ugly. That’s fine, you do you. Not all of us look at things that way especially in a development year. A lot of us are more concerned with how the team plays rather than the win and loss columns.
You seem incapable of grasping this different perspective.
While I like watching good footy, I don’t care how the Team plays if they win. I reckon there are more of me than of you.
That’s usually my attitude, but there were a couple of “wins” last year we were just so ■■■■ that by the end of the game I would almost have preferred a five point loss to a five point win because the loss would have been a better reflection of what we deserved.
I’m sure that’s how you would look at the game in retrospect, and I agree, but in the moment you still celebrate getting over the line
No. I didn’t celebrate at all. I think there were two of them, maybe three, and each time I just thought, well, that was a really ■■■■■■ win.
I agree in large part. That’s why I don’t think how many games Essendon win in 2026 is overly relevant to the future of Brad Scott. It’s more about seeing a semblance of game style, development gains and a competitive spirit most weeks.
As an inexperienced, young side headed for the bottom third of the ladder we need to be realistic. We can’t expect entire games played with great style and method. We can’t expect the kids to play well each week.
We should expect to see quarters and halves within games of a good method, glimpses of the future in terms of individual performances.
Some of our early wins were just lucky and downright ugly.
Beat last placed Eagles by 2 points after being down by 24 in the third quarter.
Scored just 77 points against a team that conceded on average 107 points a game.
That game was just one of two that Eagles conceded less than 80 points (the other team being North).
Beat North by 3 points after kicking just 3 goals after quarter time.
Beat Sydney by 8 points despite losing inside 50s by 16 and scoring shots by 7.
That Port game was horrible quality and we trailed after every break.
Yeah they were ■■■■ games.
West Coast match was worse than that. Simpson appeared to be urging his players not to defend at the last bounce. We almost lost to a team while it was raising the white flag.
Your expectations are so low that you are sure to be satisfied come years end
That game was in 2024. I was talking about this years game. Awfully similar though!
And that ugliest of games vs Tiges at the MCG where we kicked an excellent 1.13 after QT. Was the Nic Martin ACL game. Shocker all round.
So yes we were very poor a lot last season and yes it does matter to me how we perform footballing wise in any win. Like @evs says.
My expectations are low, but I’d have thought entirely realistic and on point.
Forgive me for not following who you were responding to. It’s not like you to repeat the exact same thing multiple times every single day
I’d rather lose to Geelong by 8 points than beat North by the same margin.
I figure we split the difference and beat Geelong by eight goals.
I would like to personally thank him for the SWAGGER and how much we STUCK IT UP THE OLD ENEMY by allowing them to walk in 20 plus goals even without the player that we forced to stay.
WE ARE ESSENDON
WELSHY
Welsh didn’t like to lose and was a competitor I hope he gave the playing group a few home truths he would be filthy after that performance it made him look like a fool
