Zaharakis really is a representation of what is wrong with this club. A Meek , Selfish footballer, who refused to put his head over the ball, run back to defend….. but was the first one to sprint forwards of the ball…. To get a cheap goal.

Welsh was no superstar. But he wanted to belt blokes and stand up for his team mates. That’s the sort of person this club needs.

If you believe in three steps forward I’ve got a bridge to sell you. And by the way, it’s not two steps back but 13.

Don’t bother with that guy, full of crap and hates everything about the club

Why would I want to buy a bridge? Unless you chuck in some jousting sticks, then maybe.

Fairly or unfairly, I’m going to entirely peg my views on Welsh on how he handles the Merrett situation. Previous administrations would have failed this test no doubt.

If he has the intestinal fortitude to move on a contracted captain and clear best player and doesn’t feel the need to appease Facebook numpties, I’ll back him in.

Exactly how I see it.

Unfortunately the progress isn’t visible on the scoreboard and that comes once everything gets a chance to establish itself.

We’re entering what is hopefully the third strong draft haul in a row. Now it’s about surrounding them with development support, getting them fit / conditioned and with good leaders to show them the path.

I still think they need more coaching expertise (potentially includes senior coach) and leadership quality.

I think securing Hinkley will be great support for Scott and another culture driver expert as well as a known star at fostering ‘connection’ which is a big priority for the President.

Everyone was complaining how Essendon has no swagger and not ruthless as a club.

Welsh wants to bring that back and people are complaining?

Damm if you do or don’t Essendon

I don’t dislike any poster passionately. I don’t have time for the posters who’re glass half empty and simply can’t envisage a positive when there is one.

Again, after the 20 years we’ve had I can understand why they’re that way but in the end that innate perspective is looking backwards and not forwards. I can’t be bothered with the predictable negative energy.

I’m looking forwards and I think Welsh has had a really strong first month…. And I don’t care if he ends up approving Merretts defection. Footy is constantly changing and if leaders aren’t flexible and mailable they shouldn’t be there.. And I don’t care what some media turd wants to dredge up for clicks.

Welsh is the right person for president imo you can see how passionate he is and his drive to make us a top club again when he speaks.

You don’t do it with words. It has as much meaning as the “Essendon Edge” did.
Needs to actually put it into action (Which, by some miracle, may even end up happening one day).

Surely we all agree Welsh’s main problem is that he can’t even pronounce the name of the damn club correctly?

And if Welsh wants to call his former teammate to discuss those comments, he can, also his choice. There is no implication here that the call was not welcomed by Zaka, or that Welsh has done anything other than call a friend.

How that is embarassing to you, I have no idea.

I’d agree if that was the direction it was heading. But I don’t agree that is. I think Ken has well and truly called time on being a head coach and wouldn’t be after a top gig.

I think this is what will happen. The Merrett trade is his 1 st big test. He needs to do the best for the club and he will not agree to the trade if it doesnt benefit us. Merrett is likely to go. And we will hit the draft hard. Welsh attended the draft last year and that looked ok. New president, new s & c and new assistant incoming. As it always does, the changes over the off season give us some hope.

Do you stand by your comment earlier this year in May that Welsh would lead to Hird coming back? Does Welsh still have your support? Is he still the right person for President? Can he still count on your vote Nino!!!??? IS HIRDY COMING BACK NINO??!!

Can you confirm your support for bringing back Hird and the dumping of His Royal Highness the Duke of Mediocrity Brad Scott, now that your right person is President?

 :scream:

Fluffy…

Ah yeah let me just unhide this hidden reply, surely it’s a good indication of a mentally stable poster being rational

Agree. And Welsh is well connected to all the different identities in the Club which is actually quite unique. He’s going to be the real deal based on a few convos I’ve had with people around the club. I think it will be an asset to have Welsh and Solly fronting the footy department from here on.
