A 50% blowout in a month!
The numbers quoted to us today of $6 billion are 50% more than those advised to the Organising Committee board at its meeting in June.
“Since awarding Victoria the Games, the Government has made decisions to include more sports and an additional hub, and changed plans for venues, which have added considerable expense, often against the advice of the CGF and CGA.”
For reference the new QLD govt at the time in 2012 looked at cancelling the Gold Coast 2018 Games and was told by the CGF there would be a $1.2 billion breach of contract penalty, one wonders what the penalty fee will be this time around … meh, it’s only money!
Good decision was allways a wast of money and the state has other priorities. As usual the far right are going to be way off the money, this will be a popular decision.

The cancelling was only due to a fear of Godzilla showing up. They are worried ANNOUNCE GODZILLA is overdue to actually summon the beast.

Hosting the Olympics once every 25-30 years kinda makes the Commonwealth games seem a bit pointless anyway IMO.

I don’t know what their exact KPI’s are, but I’m assuming “Commonwealth Games actually runs every four years” is right near the top.
I reckon there is a strong chance all parties involved have farked up here.
