ANNOUNCE NEW THREAD

I was posting a reply to redbull from the other one about the crowds….

The whole event has been awesome, IMO. Been great for us here too to be able to watch so much stuff at reasonable hours. It pretty much begins each day when most people’s workday is over

Only if the Cypriot wins
The Cypriot has to beat him by 6 places to overtake him.
It’s essentially just a match race between the two of them

Very sooky ‘sport’

And race abandoned

Summer holidays in France, people go south. Usually at this time of the year, Parisians leave in droves, a lot of hospos shut down.

Nope, have to go again

Why was it abandoned?

Might be a different summer than usual for them if the games are on?

No wind
Only 1 leg to go too

Any danger of the sailing commentators explaining what the hell’s going on?
Why have they abandoned? And do they race again?

Lack of wind
Will likely race tomorrow

Surely with only 1 leg to go they could have persisted. It’s not like they were totally becalmed.

OK the wind shifts are apparently a problem - but when I sailed in competition on Lake Burley Griffin there was a 180 degree wind shift every time you sailed past Black Mountain and they never restarted there!

Paris was zoned for the JO, difficult to get around for the locals. Some let out their homes. French media are reporting that some have regretted decamping, as it is such a fun town with different party venues set up, music everywhere.

They don’t make sailors line they used to.
