Announced Retirements and Delistings, List spots and Picks 2018 edition - The grass on the other side isn't Green

Well at least we know that the Rookie list is currently:

From the Contract Thread:

So 3 Cat A and 2 cat B, so far,
with maybe an Irishman on the horizon.

So does this mean no more B list Next Gen Academy players, including Tiwi players?

I reckon Dea is done.

If we cutting Goddard in part with a view to playing Francis, Redman, Ridley & also have Guelfi able to play mid sized defender role I donā€™t see us offering him a contract

Itā€™s bad luck for Dea, heā€™s just a victim of our excess in quality mid sized defender depth, and you havenā€™t even mentioned Gleeson or Ambrose who he overlaps in function with.

He is clearly better than some of the players we are keeping, just not the right type to keep.

Agreed.

Was rumoured GC had offered him a contract as well as him potentially going into police force so heā€™s got options ahead of him

PC Dea has a nice ring to it

Updated the OP assuming the news on McNiece and Long is correct.

Would mean we could now take Neagle and Fletcher as F/S rookies, and still have 3 ND selections.

Youā€™ve only got 1 primary rookie place left though?

Agreed. I think we might go the 5 or even 6 on the rookie list this year. It will be interesting anyway.

You can take less ND picks, and extra rookie picks. So we could pass on our last pick (which is likely to be after anyone could have bid on Fletcher or Neagle) and take an extra pick in the rookie draft.

I would have thought if they were going to cut Dea, they would have by now.

You could say the same about signing him

Why do we believe the ā€œnewsā€ on Long and Baguley?
As Iā€™ve asked in other threads, when has the club re-signed or delisted players without posting an article on the club site about it? There hasnā€™t been one for Long or Baguley.

Equally, to my knowledge there wasnā€™t anything from the club at any point saying McNeice was promoted to the Cat A list. But we believed it because a few communications specialists said so?

Woosha has been ruthless when it comes to list management since the start. I really liked that. This yearā€™s delistings started well with BJ and strong call on Bags. But gone soft with the last couple, though they have been one year extensions.

I disagree.if we had better draft picks sure but Iā€™d take all our uncontracted players on a 12 month contract over pick 80+ on 2 years

These guys might want better security than a 1 year deal and are either negotiating or considering other offers like Morgan did last year. May not be the club holding up the process here

Youā€™d keep a guy who has been around long enough to show heā€™s not going to make it over a kid desperate for an opportunity and the chance he might make it?

And it doesnā€™t have to be a 2 year deal. Can easily keep bags on the main list instead and draft an extra rookie on a 1 year contract

The club is shocking at announcing the tail end of re signings etc. Took the collective wisdom of Blitz about a month to come to the conclusion that Long was upgraded and McNeice was a Cat A rookie last year. I donā€™t think the club ever announced Long.

The club definitely announced Long re-signing last year. Plus he had to be promoted to the senior list because heā€™d had 3 years in rookie list.

Iā€™m still not convinced why it was collectively decided McNiece had to have been promoted to Rookie A.

Regardless, itā€™s ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  annoying that the clubs arenā€™t clearer on this.
Makes you wonder if the AFL wants them to be deliberately vague to fit in with the AFLs deliberately vague rules.

Anyway, iā€™m still yet to be convinced about the status of Long and Bags for 2019. Weā€™ll see over the next few days I guess

I donā€™t think other clubs are as bad as we are. Donā€™t really pay enough attention to know.

Possiblyā€¦ i donā€™t pay enough attention either.
