How cool is this new jumper. I’m definitely buying one!
Remove the Dutton logo and it would be perfect. Regardless, it’s a great design – probably our best one-off jumper ever.
Better than the Amart logo
I afraid I have the opposite opinion..it is both crap aesthetically and, (woke alert) insensitive the fact that an actual bomber that drops bombs is something that millions of people experience daily, a number of whom would have relatives here. If you want to be representing war images, the maybe an image of some poor b*stard having his or her head blown off would be more accurate..and hey, imagine the splatter design!
Can’t we just have one nice thing before having a whinge
While I think there’s merit in wanting to be respectful when remembering victims of war, we literally are “The Bombers”.
Depends if it’s a nice thing I guess
The overwhelming majority of fans love it and even oppo fans are praising it so can’t we just have this and take the grim to another thread.
Well it is a pretty anachronistic nickname, but too baked on to update. Anzac Day is supposed to be about remembering the impact of war..I’ve never liked the linking of actual war and the rah rah aggression of sport, they are not remotely the same thing. Anyway, I’ll dismount my soapbox. And, I probably don’t like any jumpers that don’t have a red sash on a black baground
I actually agree Paddy. Think it is poor taste, too late to change our name from the Bombers I guess but these little things do matter.
Well it was used to fight actual Nazis, so there’s that eh
not true we could always go back to an old nickname like the –checks notes– uhhhhh bombers is fine just leave it
I thought I’d be a lone voice!
Oh boy, sounds like I have some reading up to do.
Your overthinking it.
My granddad flew Beaufighters and started our EFC tradition (he came down from NSW). So although I hate alternate strips this has something going for us.
The clubs, the AFL and the sponsors should come to an agreement not to have any commercial logos on these ANZAC Day jumpers. It’s a bit gross, and the jumpers would look much better without them.
Won’t happen. These big events are the reason why sponsors do what they do.
I think a reasonable compromise (for this jumper) could have been to have the logo transparent enough the red line of the silhouette could be (even very faintly) seen behind it.
Otherwise, this jumper is the best they’ve done in some time.
